Will be going camping tomorrow for 2 nights with adult family members and one of their friends, leaving lunchtime home Saturday am.

I am a single mum with 2 dc and this is my third child free break in 9 years.

After I'd agreed to go,paid and booked I was informed we would be spending our one full day visiting a local tourist town.i was expecting to be sitting on my bum all day(other than obvious stuff, cooking, dishes etc)doing what I wanted,no demands, kids nagging etc, basically just chilling out.

Would IBU to say "thanks but I would rather stay at the campsite alone than traipse around a busily populated area"?

A bit antisocial. Could you blame a dodgy ankle or something that wouldn't stop you going but would make a day traipsing round a tourist trap difficult? You wouldn't want to slow them down.

Not unreasonable at all but tell them soon so they don't book anything.

It depends on the type of family you have.

If that was my family there would be awkwardness and arguments for the rest of the weekend as they would accuse me of sulking

For my family even an "I'm not feeling too great I'm knackered. I don't want to ruin your day, would you mind if I stayed and had a sleep while you go out?" Would be iffy Hmm

So it just depends. I certainly don't feel it is unreasonable to want to chill though

In my family, all that would be needed is 'I can't be bothered to go out today, in going to hang out here instead' and no one would bat an eyelid.
So I agree, it depends on what your family are like.

I think they'd be ok,may try to persuade me to go,some ribbing, but I don't think they would be upset etc.

Was mainly worried I was being unreasonable in not going, will mention it first thing.
