A few months back I applied for a p/t job in a shop that was opening.
I went for an interview at the job center that involved no questions about past retail experience just doing drawings about our hobby's and other such nonsense. Was then told to go to a hotel the following week for an induction day.

This was 6 hours in a hot sweaty hotel with more of the same nonsense with flip charts etc.

My contract is 8 hours a week I'm still waiting to actually be given the contract. We were told don't worry there will be lots of overtime you will never just do basic hours well this was true for the first week and we were setting up then only 8 hours.
On Monday they starting doing our reviews. 2 chaps who were in went off to the office part way through their shift and disappeared. Didn't even appear back on the shop floor. I found out yesterday they have both been let go Shock.
yesterday I came to work to be told we have no carrier bags and are to ask customers if they would like to "purchase" a 10p one! This was because the manager had forgotten to order any and its not the first time either.

I was extremely pissed off by the end of yesterdays shift and told my dh if they tell me to leave I will be dancing out the fucking door.
I have to phone them at some point today to find out next weeks hours because despite the fact we were told we would would always have 4 weeks of hours sometimes I don't know I'm in until the day before.
Sorry this is long just wanted to get it off my chest and ask aibu?

Thank you for your reply. We need the money but I'm only bringing home £51 a week. I've never signed on, my dh did for a while. I've tried looking for other jobs but they want you to be fully flexible but I need to work round my children.

YANBU. Is there anyone at had office you can flag the lack of notice re hours to? I'd be hanging on to that whilst looking elsewhere (which I imagine is what you're doing now anyway!) x

You'd be better off at your local McDonalds.
