Actually, I'm pretty sure I'm not.

I live on a site that my LL also lives on but in a differnt building. It has a large garden that is all open plan so none of it is private as such, no fences etc.

The LL has three large dogs that he allows to roam freely in the garden. I don't have a problem with this s such except for the fact that the dogs pee and poo wherever they feel like it and no one cleans up after them.

Today, I was hanging out my washing in my new sandals that ds got me for my birthday and, inevitably, I trod in the dog poo. A lot of it.

Aibu to be fucked off that I now have to spend ages scrubbing stinking dog shit off my new shoes because the LL doesn't pick up after his dogs? I can clean them and yes, I probably should have paid better attention to where I was stepping but I shouldn't have to! They are not my dogs! Why should I have to pick up their shit so I don't step in it?! Arrrrrg!

That is rancid. Have a word if you haven't already. I would probably move if it didn't stop.

They never pick up or only do so sporadically? Could you get a small bit of garden sectioned off? (If you have DC you don't want them rolling in dog mess or walking through it or getting on their toys etc.)

That's fucking grim! I would anonymously tip them off to someone .. Don't know who that would be though

Wolfie, as far as I know they never pick it up or at least I've never seen them doing it. I can appriciate it is a large garden and it must be hard to keep track of it but that is part of having a dog, surely!

We have a bit of the garden that is unofficially 'ours' (as it is outside our place) but it fairly large itself and would cost a lot of money to fence off.

I would move, it sounds revolting.

YANBU! Been there, done that, got the tee shirt, you have my 100% sympathy.

I did it in my garden, in my new boots Sad and Angry. My stupid cow of a neighbour said 'oh if he does it again you should get hold of him and rub his nose in it' Shock The last thing I would want to do after standing in dog shit is to man handle the (big) dog into the mess.

Dog owners who don't clean up are amongst the lowest of the low IMO.

Yanbu it's disgusting!

But the cat threads here opened my eyes to how some pet owners think you should put up and shut up. Don't want to step on their Canine rights.

he owns the land, but, I assume the laws around picking up dog poo still applies as he rents out the properties.

It's horrible having to watch my step whenever I go outside.

Shady, I'm pretty sure that suggestion wouldn't stop them from doing it anyway!

Fencing a bit in for you sounds like he best option. It doesn't have to be big high expensive fencing - look into options.

Does your contract cover any section of the garden and name it as yours? If so then yanbu however if it doesn't then yabu. It's his property and he can do what he likes on it

Maybe put down some sort of deterrent on your garden ... Chilli powder?

Disgusting, I think I'd have to move.

Where I used to live the gardens were tiny court yards, my neighbour had a medium sized dog - so quite big poos - and would leave their dog's poo in their garden for several days at a time.

During the summer the fly problem was horrendous and knowing any fly in my house had probably already visited her pile of dog shit made me terrified of leaving any food out to cool after cooking.

It was definitely one of the things that added to my many reason for selling that house, and I speak as a dog owner.

Why can't people just clear it up as soon as it leaves the dog?

Disgusting and it annoys the crap out of me too.

Im not a dog lover, they smell and people that own them should of course pick up their shit.

Try...
"dear ll,
I hope you don't mind me mentioning the dog poo issue. The problem is we unfortunately keep treading it into the house and I'm concerned it will ruin the carpets. I'm sure this is something you don't want to happen so if you could perhaps ensure the dogs go in an area where my family can't tread in it I'd be grateful.
Thanks
Jasper"

If that fails, move and on moving day tread it into every possible surface.

This makes me so, so mad. I believe people should not be allowed to have a dog if they can't clean up after it.

Totally unacceptable and really disgusting, poor you. Tell the landlord and then if he does nothing try speaking to the council.

I think your contract should state something about you being able to "enjoy" your property.
Perhaps point out to your LL that dog shit the size of an Alp is preventing your "right to enjoy" your home.

You can contact the council...it's an environmental health issue.

I know this because my neighbour keeps reporting me for my dog going to the toilet in my garden...even though I do clean it up. Angry

What does your contract say about the garden and your use?

I would shove it in their letterbox

I know how you feel. We have a large grass area where everyone takes their dogs and there are about 10 dog owners most of them being big dogs. It seems to be the only people picking up the poo are the small dog owners. We have a small dog and always pick up the poo but when she goes in this big grass area you are having to dodge piles of dog poo to get to hers. It really annoys me when I see people letting their dog poo and not picking it up. My neighbour has a lovely big dog but they never pick it up. They are really house proud too and have a lovely house so I always wonder how they would feel about someone walking dog poo all over their expensive carpets. I would ask the LL if there was any way to section off a small part of the garden for you to use for yourself.
