AIBU?

To be pissed off the hairdresser has stained my sink again

Last had my hair done at Easter at home, obviously mobile lady who comes, really pleased with her but last time when she was rinsing out her bowls she blobbed brown dye all over the drainage unit thing in the centre of the sink and the draining board, big blobs that wouldn't budge with neat bleach even, I had to scrub the area while she was on her phone and my colours were developing for about ten mins then realized that was the best it was going to get and cleaned up and left it, she never said anything at the time so assumed she didn't know it was there despite me saying god this stuffs tough to get off isn't it.

Had roots done today and while I was upstairs washing my hair she's cleaned her bowls again(which I didn't realize when I came down as she literally pulled my towel off and started combing) and there's three big blobs of brown dye on the sink and draining area.

I'm frankly pissed off its like a cream colour and I know it's stained as I put bleach on to it more or less straight away las time and the marks are still there.

I've been to school and come back now and only just noticed it.

I know they have to be washed but AIBU to think this means she just doesn't give a shit?

I think if you dye your hair and you have a cream coloured sink then you have to accept that there well be blobs.

Put some bleach on it and leave it for half an hour.

Wtf to saying yabu to get your hair done at home? You have no idea why the OP might find it easier to have it done. And no OP yanbu to be annoyed, she should put something down to cover surfaces.

Silly remark fucking

Or maybe a fucking silly remark...

What on earth is wrong with having hair done at home fucking?

How annoying OP, not really sure how much she is at fault though as it must be nearly impossible to stop all stray drips and splatters. I suppose it would of been courteous of her to remind you to protect the area with a towel or something.

YABU to get your hair done at home. Go to a hairdressers.

Why?! There may be a reason why the OP gets her hair done at home?
She could be housebound?

Or maybe it's not convenient to go out to a salon if she has kids to look after?

Can you just tell/ask her not to wash her things at your house as it stains the sink?
I have inherited a white kitchen sink and I hate it. As soon as I can afford it, I'll be replacing with stainless steel.

This would really annoy me to the point I would text her and say I have hair dye on my sink- any tips how to get it off as I've tried bleach and it just won't shift! Hopefully, she will realise that this is a issue.

Nothing wrong with getting your hair done at home??? How strange to think that is unreasonable!

What the actual fuck, fucking?! Why is she unreasonable to have her hair done at home?

OP, yanbu. Mobile hairdressers are normally very careful and she should not be getting blobs of dye everywhere. I would maybe mention next time (if you're actually planning on having her back, that is) and say you were just wondering if she had anything that cleans hair dye off as your cleaning products didn't seem to get rid of the dye from your sink. She might get the hint.

I don't mind her washing the bowls, or I'd even do it but if she filled the sink with soapy water and submerged them it would be fine instead she's just blasting the tap on them and spraying the dye everywhere, she must have seen the blobs clinging on the side of the sink?

She's not got her own home but don't think that should matter, she's 26 so I'm sure has experience with sinks and dye many times.Been doing hair since leaving school, I just think she's not arsed, that's why I'm annoyed.

I choose to get it done at home as my favourite salon closed but she went mobile so she comes to me now.

YANBU
I used a mobile hairdresser and she ruined my sink and worktop despite me constantly covering it over and asking to rinse the bowls in the stainless utility room sink.
There are lots of good careful hairdresser's out there - let them have your business.

Sorry, I didn't realise this was one of those where everyone has to say YANBU Hmm

I do think YABU to get it done at home and expect not to get wear and tear! It happens.

I negate this by going to a hairdresser.

Oil the sink before she comes next time (veg oil, kitchen towel, quick wipe - nothing special) . I do that before dying my own hair at home- hot soapy water makes it all like new after.

Fucking, no one is saying you have to say yanbu. People have a problem with you saying its unreasonable to have your hair done at home.

She needs cling film. Cover inside of bowls, lift out and throw away.

One of those magic vanish sponges might get the stains off - they can remove stains that even bleach struggles with.
Yanbu to be annoyed that the hairdresser is so careless.

Cream cleaner and Cillit Bang anti limescale stuff are my go to cleaners. Toothpaste can actually be quite effective too.

You could try Dettol mould and mildew remover. It's an incredibly strong bleach in a spray bottle and I luvs it.

Just use some Astonish.. That cleans pans marks, dyes, everything..

I kind of agree with fucking to a certain extent. If you want it done at home you have to expect a certain degree of mess. If you want your house pristine you need to use a salon. You could just ask her nicely to take a bit more care, or provide a bowl of soapy water for her.

I read the OP thinking "meh, veering towards a bit unreasonable."

Then I read fuckingfuckfuck's "contributions".

And I completely changed my mind. Amazing how idiot foolish comments can do that to you sometimes. Hmm

OP, you are so not being unreasonable. Get her telt!

Is it a porcelain sink or a composite one?

Report
SylvanianCaliphate · 13/07/2015 16:42

Yanbu, btw! Mention it, she probably hasn't realised that some sinks will stain.

Report
FuzzyWizard · 13/07/2015 16:45

As a PP said you should oil the sink and it'll come off easily.
