To think that some BMW are complete cocks?

Just had a massive standoff with a BMW driver. I had right of way, cars were parked all down his side, so I expected him to pull over to let me pass. At the point where we met, he was about 4 foot past a large space to pull in, which was also opposite a side road, which would have I would have been able to use to get past. So there was plenty of room for us to pass without either of us really waiting. He stopped on my side of the road, and expected me to drive on the pavement to get round him. I just stopped, I didn't have anywhere to be, in a hurry, so thought he would move eventually!
Some scaffolders on a nearby house started telling him to reverse but he wasn't having any of it.
A lady behind me tried to get him to reverse, then another guy told him to reverse. But all to no avail, I gave in to his complete twattery and drove on the pavement to get round him. I shouted to him that he needs to learn how to drive, he told me that I was jealous of his car. Hmm If having a car like that makes you drive like a cock, then I'm glad I don't have one.
I'm absolutely shaking with the frustration of his arrogance. I have noticed since driving a small car, I get cut up a lot. But this was ridiculous.

I so wish you had just turned the engine off and sat there updating us

Some drivers are indeed idiots.

Sorry, just seems to be certain cars that stand out for this type of cockery. My parents have a BMW, so not knocking all such drivers. I was so cross. Blows my mind he was so selfish, with no regard.

Well the lady behind me was on the way to visit her ill mother, and then the guy behind the cock had to get to school to pick up, so I felt bad. Bet he feels fucking great, got to belittle a women driver.

I have conducted a scientific experiment in this almost

I used to think, like yourself that BMW drivers were cocks... then I ended up with one as a company car. I drive no differently in the BMW to how I have in my KA / Picasso / other equally classy car.... HOWEVER

since having the BMW (5 months)... people are more aggressive to me, I have been involved in my only ever crash (I was stationary behind a car waiting to turn) etc

my general impression is BMW's seem to attract cocks! Either by driving them, or gaining the attention of cocks to cause a crash (driving in wellies anyone?!) or expel some aggression at!

I'm not a complete cock and I drive a BMW. I think he was an unpleasant person, and it wouldn't matter what car he was driving.

I wouldn't let his attitude ruin your day any more though.

I notice it with Audi drivers more. I got the rage driving behind two women today, first the passenger tossed a plastic bottle out of her window and then 30 seconds later the driver chucked a piece of paper out of her window.

I don't know how I managed to resist ramming the pair of entitled ignorant twats.

I drive an Audi and had this with a Ford driver not moving when I had right of way and refused to reverse as school children were everywhere.

She went into the pavement to get round me rather than reversing 2 car lengths.

Lunatic then stalked me and took pictures of my car to report me to the police apparently! Shame that I heard nothing as a police officer friend of mine watched what happened and would have asked her be spoken to about he dangerous driving and aggressive behaviour!

So it doesn't matter what car you drive, sounds like he is just a prick full stop.

I've turned off my engine in the past when people have done things like that to me. I'm stubborn.

Engine off, book out, wait. They back down eventually.

But are these drivers generally all men? Women don't drive like this do they? Regardless of what car they drive. My DH doesn't get cut up when he drives my car.

YANBU

Just written a long tirade of abuse directed at all the 3 series wee boy racers I meet round our way but deleted as I thought there may be an outside chance I was being unfair to someone sane driving a BMW. Not sure why anyone sane would choose this car over an Audi, Merc, VW or Skoda though? - think you just have to make allowances for them Grin

BTW he is not arrogant he just cannot drive.

Rather than simply accept that this individual was a cock you feel it necessary to try to explain it by way of the brand of car he was driving. I can see the attraction in a "the world ought to make sense" sort of way, because if you can blame the brand of the car you can avoid having to face the realisation that a small minority of people are cocks beyond redemption in a quite terrifying this-person-does-not-care-if-I-die-in-a-fireball sort of way.

But, well, one of my brother-in-laws drives an Audi, and my mother-in-law drives a BMW, and I can vouch for them being good eggs, rather than cocks.

So I disagree with you. Sorry.

Talk about a sweeping generalisation.

I agree mrdarcy, I was followed home twice in my BMW, both times for filtering in turn. Both times by Vauxhall Vectras. I have no idea what they think I did wrong because I was doing exactly what every other car was doing. Odd.

I now drive an Audi and see no aggression. It's an SUV though so I don't know if that makes people think "mum" or what.

Yes, some women do drive like this. Men do not have the monopoly on being shit drivers.

I was tailgated this morning by a woman driving a Fiat who obviously thought me driving at the speed limit was unacceptable.

YANBU

There are of course complete cocks on the road in all makes of car and I'm sure there are plenty of perfectly decent BMW drivers BUT....IMO the % of cocks driving BMWs is definitely higher than for all other makes or car! (completely unscientific & anecdotal obvs Grin)

There do seem a high number of BMW drivers acting appallingly. I wonder if a high number of aggressive drivers favour those cars or if there is another factor (not their car, perhaps a work vehicle?). They certainly are on a par with white vans in my experience for erratic, badly planned, impatient and actually aggressive behaviours.
I koke to my dad he'll get his BMW taken away because he indicates. Definitely a rarity when spotting bmws on the roads.

My (bonkers) SIL once told me that BMWs are "drug dealers' cars". At the time my retired (from the law, not from drug dealing) father drove a BMW. I take everything she says with a handful of salt.

OP - he does sound like a twit. There are lots out there. I have stopped noticing the make of the car.
