To ask school for my money back again?

At ds school we pay for milk the term before. We recieved a letter saying if our child is nursery we are entitled to a refund. I ticked the box and returned it to school. I think this was january.

Anyway a couple of months passed and j asked at the office and the receptionist said she will sort it and still no refund.

I feel a bit daft as it is only 6 pounds but quite a few parents are still waiting.

We have now recieved a letter saying as they will be in reception class in september we will have to pay for milk.

Aibu to keep asking or should i just forget it?

How about writing to the school saying that since they haven't given the refund yet, you are happy for the balance to be applied to next year's milk money, rather than them have the palaver of refund?

Could you write to the school asking them to put your refund toward the next term's milk in reception (assuming it costs the same, if the price has increased, just pay the difference).

The price changes slightly as the number of weeks of the term changes.

I was thinking of saying that to the receptionist but maybe a letter would be better thanks

Can't you just return the reception slip staying already paid and refund not given as requested.

Might be easier than getting refund and then paying again.

Agree , just write to say you will use the monies owed to pay for next year. Also, just a point, mine are older now, and it may have changed - I thought you only paid for milk once a child reaches 5? If they are aged 4 in reception, then they still won't have to pay. Hopefully someone on here will know that for definite.

Why are the school asking for money up front and then refunding anyway? You should not have had to pay in the first place, very odd.

This reminds me of when a school trip was cancelled due to bad weather. The school received a refund from the coach company and sent a letter home asking us to tick a box stating if we wanted a refund of the £10 or we were happy to donate to school funds! I would just send an email reminder asking for your refund.

He turns 5 in decemeber so it's within the 1st term.

Just been to collect him and the receptionist said if we just pay 2 pounds it will even out because the autumn term is longer than the term we paid for, if that makes sense.

We paid for milk from last sept as the nursery had just opened in the school and apparently they were unaware they were entitled to it free we were only offered the last milk money back although we paid for 3 terms! Probably too late to challenge that now

You get milk free until the week they turn 5, so most of the September term should be free if he is a December baby.

I asked the teacher this morning about it and she said it's as soon as they are in reception. I might question it again

You get it free til they are 5 (though this was a swiz as I have an October child so only got 1 month of free milk!)

Yep, definitely till their 5th birthday.

By the way morelike you got 2 extra terms of free early education compared with a summer birthday, I wouldn't worry about the milk!

Definitely until the week they turn 5. Our school uses coolmilk website to do theirs. DS's birthday was registered with them and I got an invoice for the rest of the school year the Monday before his 55th birthday. (March btw, so I had about half a year free)

Just checked the coolmilk and the gov.uk site and both say until the child turns 5. I might mention it to the school monday and see what they say. As the nursery is relatively new, maybe they just weren't aware.

Definitely free until the week they turn 5. DD is very pleased to have just moved from the milk list to the water list, it's like a rite of passage which says now you're 5.

Is this true? I paid for milk for my May baby for her entire three terms in Reception! No mention of it being free! Same with my January baby - paid for her first term in reception too! They are now nearing the end of Y1 and Y2 now so it's probably too late to go asking for refunds!!
