AIBU?

Give me strength- holiday huff husband

Going on holiday today and now have a grumpy husband who is annoyed I woke up at 6 to go through my cases and try shave a few kilos off (flying Thomas Cook- how tight are they on weights?).
He is basically annoyed as it is the second week in a row where its been his day off and he has woken up and I havent been there. Last week I was up early packing as I woke up early naturally and I work long hours and have a horse so don't get much time to pack.

Basically he wants me to come back to bed and snuggle (shag) , i cant win, if i do go back to bed I will be running like a blue arsed fly later as i still have my horse to sort out before i go away and some washing to do. But if i leave now and go down the yard he will be in a strop.

I have tried explaining that i need these last few hours to sort everything before we go and that next week we can do all the snuggling and sleeping in he wants. Essentially he is annoyed as the two times we have been able to have a lie in together, i have been up early.

So basically it's all about him getting a shag? And now he's sulking? Well fuck that. Is he always such a pig?

Pfft, he needs to get over himself, get up and help you! Why does he get to lie around in bed while you do everything?

I get up before DP all the time and it's never an issue. In fact, it's quite nice to laze around all smugly while he runs around manically sorting things out yet he never learns

Is this for real??

Tell him you'll come back to bed if he undertakes to sort out the horse.

How much packing can you possibly have? Realistically, like?

Report
WorraLiberty · 03/07/2015 08:35

Tell him someone's not getting a ride all next week and it's not the horse.

I would be more pissed off that you are running around manically whilst he is laying in bed. Maybe if he helped you sort everything there would be more time for shagging Grin

Why isn't he helping with the packing? Or the washing?

So you packed and then sort of unpacked. Wasting vital shagging time.

What a sulky baby. Why isn't he packing or horse-ing or whatever too?

Well i wouldn't get up at 6am just because dh wanted to shave a few kilos off the cases tbh. You both clearly knew they were over before 6am. If he wanted to get up that early its up to him. Why should I get up because he wants to?

I am usuallt the first one up when we go away so can have a shower and pack the last bits. Wouldn't occur to me to make dh get up when I am capable of doing it myself and by choice.

As for the being annoyed for you just getting up, he is being an arse. Not everyone fancies morning sex.

Dh is always stressed on travel days. His family were always the family having their name called out, or lost the tickets, or couldn't find the car park they booked. He hated it. He still gets stressed until we have checked in and then he is fine.

What the others said. How much packing can you have? You sound stressed though, does your DH normally let you do things that you should both be doing? If so I don't blame you for not wanting to shag him.

YABU. I just returned from a three week holiday (requiring multiple outfit types, from posh dresses to hiking gear to bikinis), and it took me approx. 3 hours the night we left before to pack. What are faffing around with when you could be shagging? Grin

My dh would be on the receiving end of the SilverFairy Death Glare if he ever thought to vocalize such rubbish. You are doing all the holiday making sorting whilst he panders to his penis? Yes, that seems fair...

Well I wouldn't waste sleeping/cuddling/shagging time on shaving a few kilos off my suitcase. I wouldn't have overpacked in the first place (seems a bit odd to spend one morning packing then another, a week later, essentially unpacking!) but if he's having a strop because he's not getting shag then HIBU.
I'm always a bit baffled about how people turn packing for a holiday into a mammoth task. But then I move house so often I can pack an entire house up in a day!

I never understand how it can take anyone more than an hour to pack. I mean how much can you physically fit in one suitcase anyway??

A shag on the first day of your hols sounds like a good start to me.

And compared to packing, which he might reasonably have assumed to have been finished, I can see why he might have been miffed.

But if he's not pulling his weight, and in return you're not up for sex at his preferred morning time, then you are on a kind of see-saw which usually does not end well.

'Packing' to me is not just putting it in a case.

Its figuring out what I need to take, digging it out of the laundry basket/ironing pile/off the dryer/out of tumble dryer/did I leave it hanging on the bathroom hook?/well bugger me it was in the wardrobe all along.

Chances are it then needs washing and drying and possibly ironing. Then I need the right colour pants for underneath. Then I need a top that goes with it.

etc etc

Then the kids pack by me telling them 'bring me five t shirts and two bottoms' or whatever. And they then do all the above. Then we have a right hodge podge of stuff waiting to be washed and dryed and better put the radiators on to get that non tumbleable top dry...

Then wash stuff and medicine stuff and shoes...

Sounds like 14stone or so you could shave off your luggage right there. I wouldn't be taking stroppy people on holiday with me.

however, bit bonkers to wake up early to start cutting down on luggage!

Wow that was a response. Well I work long hours and have a horse so the only spare time I had to pack was last weekend, I tend to pack most stuff a week before and then during the week I try reduce what I take as I overpack. This week I have been manic with work and have barely had the energy to do my horse let alone finish packing. This morning I shagged him to shut him up then went to the yard , bumped into my friend who was having a veterinary emergency so rushed around and did my horse (got everything ready for the lady who is looking after her) then stayed with my friend while the vet came, then the horse had to go to hospital. Then returned home just in time to leave for the airport. Now we are stuck in blooming traffic!!

Holiday mornings are always a bit stressful. DH and I always used to have a bit of a tiff about something, but we seem to be ok about them now.

To be brutally honest, it does sound as if you make a bit of a production out of packing - seriously what's with the packing then repacking malarkey. I'd not be delighted to be woken up at 6 am on the first day of my hols for something that should have been sorted out previously.

Anyway hope you make it to the airport on time .....

Light cases are good. My slightly OCD DH weighed all of ours empty and put stickers with their weight on the outside then threw out any that were more than 4kg.
