AIBU?

To not have taken a handbag!

I attended a training course, during this the trainer asked everyone to pick up their handbags (moving and handling course) and started giving the men bags! I said can I have one too, as I didn't take a handbag with me! The trainer asked but where do you keep all your womans stuff?? I laughed as I thought it was a joke, but he was serious and I mumbled something about having pockets! AIBU not to take handbags where ever I go? What womans stuff do I need? I obviously do use a handbag but not everyday? I was being picked up and dropped off by my partner, lunch was provided, so didn't really need anything. Very relaxed training venue, so was able to wear non work clothes! (If that makes a difference)

I'm with you! I hate handbags. Only take one if my clothes have no pockets.

My handbag contains (among the rubbish):
Large purse
Glasses + case
Sunglasses + case
Tissues
Tampons
Phone
iPad

If you don't need such things, YANBU. Personally, I couldn't leave the house without my purse (emergency money etc).

Also should have said if you do carry a handbag everyday, what do you consider to be the essentials? Now curious about womans stuff! Grin

I always used to get this, I never took a bag on nights out and people couldn't understand why/how?
Obviously certain outfits meant u needed a bag but then I would use the tiniest one possible.
It's only since having children I have started to use a bag for nappies etc and even sometimes now I use my pockets for phone/money

I sometimes go out without a bag - depends where I'm going, how long I'm going for and if I've got decent pockets. There are times when I've only got keys, phone and a bit of emergency cash.

I just put everything in my pockets too! I'm more likely to carry one in summer as I probably won't have a coat, but my keys, debit card and cash easily fit in my coat pockets without them looking too bulky.

I only take a bag to work as it holds my lunch in it. Otherwise I'm with you on the no bag front

I have an enormous amount of shite in my handbag. Purse, travel receipts, umbrella, backup makeup, antihistamines, painkillers, tampons, lip balm, perfume, letters I'm supposed to be doing something about, phone charger cable, personal phone, work phone, iPod, tablet...

I would like to travel light but it's not in my nature!

Don't even own a handbag ( and I'm female) and never have

I carry keys, if I've driven, phone and a clip style wallet.

We have a manbag with the kids stuff in (wipes, plasters, water bottle) which if I'm on a family outing we will take turns carrying but otherwise if I can't jam it in a pocket I won't bother.

If out without kids I rarely take a bag, if I have pockets I take debit card, lip balm and mobile, keys.

If with kids I take handbag, so the above and a bottle of water, change of pants for youngest, an apple or two. Normally a tissue or hanky as well.

I always take a bag out if I'm out all day or in work...with my purse, keys, hairbrush, tampons etc.

If I'm just out for a couple of hours though I'm more than happy with my phone and debit card in one pocket and keys in the other.

I feel weird if I don't have my bag! The same way I used to feel after I stopped taking dd out in a buggy Grin

I carry in mine:

Maternity notes
Iron multivitamins
Paracetamol
Tissues
Keys
Liquid eyeliner
My passport (it's the only photo ID I have lol)
Purse
Oyster card
A shitload of McDonald's coupons from topping up my oyster

My purse doesn't fit in my pockets. Certainly not with my phone and keys too. Moms pockets are bigger.

Now that DD is out of nappies I don't carry anything that doesn't fit in my bra or trouser pockets. I take a handbag out with me a few times a year if that.

If you don't have a handbag on you, then what matches your outfit?!

Seriously though...how do you manage?! I think pockets are a really bad idea...you are open to being pick pocketed. ..stuff could easily fall out too.

Always have a bag of some sort. My stuff would not fit in pockets - even my keys are too bulky for any pocket other than my winter coat.

Bag contains, as a basic minimum:
Purse
Keys
Phone
Oyster card
Lip balm
Tampons
Tissues
Sunglasses
Ipod
Notebook and pen

Often also contains a book, diary, umbrella, and various bits of random paperwork that need dealing with.

Can't imagine going bag-less!
