I do realise his is petty but it's one in a long line of similar behaviour that getting me more and more frustrated. Had breakfast together, DH went up for shower, me and toddler DS went up shortly after to find every window flung wide open! It wasn't freezing but it was certainly fresh. It's very damp and pretty chilly out. I am always freezing after shower anyway even with windows closed and toddler DS always a bit shivery too. So I said I'd shut them all for now and closed them or doors to rooms we didn't need to go into. DH gets mad saying we be fine and will be warmed after shower. Arrrggg. It's an en suite so me and DS would have been coming into bedroom to dry off. So AIBU to want to come out of a nice warm shower into a room with the window wide open and chilly air coming wafting in? And also think it's really bad for DS to come into a cold room dyer his shower?

YANBU. I shut the window while I shower (unless it's a baking hot day) then open it to let the steam out when I've dried off - and warmed up!

Do you get condensation problems?

I sort of see his point about opening the windows, if only because if you don't the condensation will start spoiling the decorations etc. I think you need some sort of compromise, for instance that you go first into the shower and get dressed in the warm, then open the windows once you're dressed. Presumably DH doesn't mind coming out into a cool room?

It's not a condensation problem. We have a decent fan and we both fling open windows when dressed normally (I also like airing the room just once me and DS are in our clothes!) He likes a cold room but knows me and DS get very shivery. He had the main bathroom window and their bedroom open and I left them open so he had cool spots to go Into for his shave etc. I just wanted bathroom and bedroom window and door shut where we were coming out shower and he's started ww3 over it.

Get an effective extractor fan fitted in the bathroom? No need to open windows then, the fan will deal with the steam.

Also he had windows shut whilst he was in shower and getting dressed!

Fan works great. No steam or damp.

Why's he starting WW3? Was he actually in the bedroom at the time? Surely if he wants to be in a room with open windows he can just go downstairs again?

Sorry, yes. I didn't realise that. My fan post crossed with yours.

Fwiw, I think you're both being petty about your individual adult preferences. His preference is for a cool room post shower, yours is for a warm room. However, his preference is causing your toddler discomfort, so he should probably get over it until DS is a bit older and can cope with the temp better.

I hate coming out if a warm shower and opening the cubicle door even in warm room as it can be a bit of a shock . I wouldnt even start a shower in a cold room.

How can another person tell you what temperature you feel comfortable at? I would close the windows until after you were both dressed and tell DH to sort himself out . There must be something else going on for this to have become such a battleground.

Many people feel temperatures differently, particularly men (is it hormones?). My DP often says how 20C day is 'ridiculously hot', so regularly that I feel he's doing it to wind me up. Today is 'a lovely day' even though it's cloudy and, oh look, it's raining. Lovely.

Back to the bathroom issue. Shut the windows. Open again when dressed, don't tell him. Or make him wait for you to shower first.
YANBU.

Thanks for all yor feedback. I do realise we are both being petty over a small issue. I don't think he genuinely believes that a cold room is bad for DS to come out to after shower whereas I think it's awful and his wee body will get too much of a shock from temp change. He was hanging around to help with DS after shower but even so should have left window closed just until we were dressed. Petty yes. We are at least communication now and back to normal. Still this sort of thing happens too often really over similarly petty things b

I think you are both being a bit unreasonable on this one - coming out of the shower into a cold room isn't necessarily pleasant, but unless the temperature change is really extreme, it is hugely unlikely to harm a toddler.

However, if he wouldn't want to come out of the shower into a cold room then he shouldn't inflict it on you and your son either - that shows a lack of consideration which is rude rather than dangerous.
