You should just have a glass of fucking wine and get on with it?

A 'cheeky' glass will still pickle your liver.

Lots of FB updates tonight that are pissing me off I may be suffering PMS

Oh and saying 'don't mind if I do' - just drink it FFS!

And breath ........... Grin

I don't get grown women saying cheeky to describe a glass of wine.

For me It ranks up there with people talking about themselves being 'naughty'.

"Oh that cake was lovely. I am naughty!"

No. You are an adult who made a choice to eat a fucking cake

Report
MorrisZapp · 27/06/2015 22:51

Because it is fun?

It sounds a bit livelier than 'I am having wine'.

Report
LondonRocks · 27/06/2015 22:52

Agree. Can't stand it when adults say such twee stuff.

I hate the word 'cheeky' in this context.

What are you, fucking twelve?

Drink the blimmin' thing and don't feel the need to post about it neither!

Why do people need to announce they are having a glass of wine at all?

Hmm

Runningupthathill82 · 27/06/2015 22:54

Its not fun, it's twee and childish and bloody annoying.

YANBU OP. People who say "cheeky vino" are also the ones who "hun" me, IME.

I'm with you OP. But then I hate FB.

"We're having a lovely picnic!"

Hoo-fucking-hooray for you.

"Darling Ellie in her new cardboard box car that I made!"

Well fucking done.

Just winds me RIGHT up.

Quite. Have the wine, cake, chocolate etc.

Don't dance around it, it's nice but we all know it's healthier not to have it.

Oooh, just a teeny tiny glass for me, there's a pet. Ooh, naughty, chocs too? Angry

Yanbu, it's very cringy. Same as women posting here 'confessing' to eating chocolate, tubs of icecream and seeking permission for wine.

Report
Passmethecrisps · 27/06/2015 23:02

It seems to stem from a need for others to approve whatever it is being consumed.

If I asked for approval for every glass of wine I drank I would have a very dull Facebook feed.

Report
Ladymoods · 27/06/2015 23:03

Or just drink it and not publicise the fact you are having a drink because you want to sound a bit cool or interesting?

The current obsession with having to let everybody know that you are drinking wine and that you love wine is fucking tedious.

DS2 had a 'cheeky Nandos' today. He's 13 so I hope he meant that he had a chicken dinner in the local Nandos and it doesn't mean something else.....

Yes this does grate my tits when I'm in a mood (usually a mood caused by not partaking in said cheeky beverage)

I think people who describe having anything as 'cheeky' on some level feel some sort of guilt about it and are in a way minimising it.Which always makes me wonder whether they are a secret alcoholic.

If you're feeling guilty about your drinking (not you,op) then ask yourself why, would be my thinking.

I have one FB friend who has 'cheeky' everything...

'Cheeky latte'
'Cheeky wine'
'Cheeky McDonalds'
'Cheeky road trip'
'Cheeky city break'
'Cheeky night out with besties'

I'm waiting for the status update informing us that she's taking a 'cheeky shit' as it is apparently the only thing in her life that hasn't been 'cheeky' so far Hmm

I would be more interested to see people own up to much less mundane cheekiness really.

Bondage?
Eating swan?

Sparklingbrook, DS3 is having a 'Cheeky Nandos' 13th birthday party tomorrow, so I hope it doesn't mean anything else! Shock

I was in nandos last weekend sparkling

The waiters were charming and the food was overpriced yet tasty.

2.5 yo was dancing on the chairs and refused to sit down so it was a bit cheeky.

Who has a "cheeky glass" of anything?? Once the bottles open in this house, it has to be emptied before bed Blush

Wine o clock/beer o clock annoys me.
Maybe when I settle down with a cup of tea I should post 'it's tea o clock'.

its rather infantile on the whole.

memo: as an adult you get to be autonomous. so whereas you had a cheeky fag on the playing fields at fifteen, now you're forty eight you're allowed to have a roija or two whenever you deign fit.

(and we don't need to know about it. its a drink not an about face of political opinion)
