AIBU?

To be fuming at this fucking kids party and throttle the lot of them?

Its 2.48am and there is some kind of teenage party happening on our road.

Fucking screaming, shouting, chasing, giggling and the loudest fucking dj speakers!!!! I can't see exactly where they are but it sounds like at least 20/30 teens. I can hear every fucking lyric and bass and have done since 8pm when I struggled to get my ds to sleep.

I'm 7 mo pregnant and can't sleep for anyway so this is just off the scale, I'm absolutely fuming!!!!!!!!

I'm very tempted to run downstairs and throttle the lot of Them and smash the sound system to pieces. AIBU?

Have you called the police?

Phone the police

Sounds rotten!! You should ring the police on the non emergency number - they will either attend, or notify the local council's night noise complaint team. 02:48 is too late to be putting up with that shite - pregnant or not :(

You would be better off phoning 101 and recording the noise on your phone/ipad/whatever.

Not called the police.

Will they come out for this?

Yes, OP. Unless they're tnbusy with a riot somewhere or similar drama. Call them now before the little fuckers go home.

And tomorrow, about 8.30 (late enough not to annoy your other neighbours, and early enough that the teens staying over are still asleep), slam your car doors lots, Hoover the car, cut the grass, & do any noisy DIY you can think of.

Produce a letter addressed to the teen's house (bit of junk mail "To The Householder" will do). Lean on the bell & deliver it (hopefully to the most hungover git).

I called the police.

They said they are aware and sent someone out earlier?? Why the fuck are they still there then??

I'm not even sure if all the teens live around here? I've just looked out the window and they are right outside now and having a great fucking time.

Apparently police will be here in an hour.

Who ever is playing the music, how the fuck do they think its ok to play loud music outside in a residential area!!????

I'm ex police. They'll have gone out and given them a warning - did you notice the music stopping briefly at any point? Then the little shits will have just started it up again. Next time the police attend they may well eject everyone but the hh from the premises. If a third visit is required they can confiscate their sound equipment. It's so hard, because unfortunately on a Friday night shift, noise complaints will be low priority, but are hell for the sensible people having to put up with it.

Yes I did notice music stop briefly earlier.

Music has stopped now as has been for a bit and the kids seemed to have moved on. Hoping they'll call it a night now!

The birds are singing, I'm wide awake now.

What time will ds get up? Is your oh there to get up with him so you could maybe get a little sleep? Maybe a nice hot drink and turn up the heating, might make you sleepy and hopefully the teenagers will have well and truly fucked off for the night.

The police come out for noise? Wish they did where I live!

Report
NRomanoff · 27/06/2015 07:01

The police would come out here for that. They sent 3 cars because one of the neighbours teenagers was hiding in bushes at 11pm with a bb gun scaring passers by. Even though they knew it was a BB gun. It was quite something to watch!

When I called the police on a neighbours party, they told me it was an environmental health issue and they couldn't do anything.

Called eh emergency number, which shuts at midnight. Fat lot of use that.

So yes, I reckon strangulation is a reasonable solution.

post exams/prom alternative party possibly? Hope you get a lie in.

DamsonInDistress · 27/06/2015 07:44

Your only hope of getting police to that situation round here is to lie and say that you have seen evidence of drug dealing as well eg. strangers arriving and leaving quickly, smells, etc, or a violent fight on lawn or similar. Otherwise they refer you to Env Health who are so understaffed they can't do anything anyway.

This sort of low level, anti social crime goes unpunished every day of the week in every town in the land sadly.

Prom night party I imagine, it's a big night for them. Not the end of the world. Hope you get some rest.

After prom party is my best bet, with absent / 'relaxed' parents. Hope you got some sleep in the end OP.

Waste of time and resources MrsHenry, never going to go to court, probably not even cautioned, to the police it will be a 'can't be bothered as so under resourced' situation.

If you don't know which house they were based in you could wait until Monday then put posters on lampposts telling "All parents whose teens were left alone over the weekend... the police were called out because..." give times and noise levels etc

I say leave it until Monday, so the teens don't take them down before mum and dad get back!

We attended every noisy party that came in across all divisions. Sadly, on a weekend night shift, there was almost always someone being stabbed or a gang of nutters trying to kill each other, so it can take a while to get to the noisy party. Unless of course, they turn into the gang of nutters and we need to try to divert to them. Under certain circumstances we would allocate it to the local authority but only within certain times, and not if it would present them with a risk of harm.

Anyway, I hope you got some sleep op.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say that if it is a one off - just deal with it. I could understand your annoyance if it was every single night - but one night? at the weekend? Let them have their party for goodness sake. Calling the police / notes on lamp posts etc come on!! We all went to the odd loud party as a teenager. Lets not be miserable old buggers now, eh?

Calm down. It's the weekend and they've probably just finished their exams. Don't you remember when you were young. Killjoy!
