AIBU?

To not quite see the fuss with Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes?

Virtually everyone has said they cry at the end of this kids book but I bought it to read with the wee one this evening and...nothing. I wasn't quite sure what bit I was supposed to find emotional other than the poor wee bugger who's got sniffles and coughs Hmm

Am I just a cold hearted bitch or is there something I'm missing?

Yes, cold hearted bitch.

I suggest you go and read "There's Going to be a Baby" and see if that improves things.

I'll add it to my list. Grin

Try 'Once There Were Giants'.

It's strange what really gets you crying. I started a thread similar to this about tv clips and music.

My book is 'how much do I love you' but 10 littie fingers is a year jerker for me too.

I think it's very sweet and I love her illustrations but it doesn't make me cry. But then I don't cry at any kids' books, I still don't get what's to cry about in Dogger.

I've never read it. But like Denim says, it's strange what gets you crying. I often shed a tear at the goodnight song on CBeebies Confused Blush it was worse when I was pregnant and hormonal though, I'd sob all the way through it.

Try "Love you forever" (Robert Munsch), River; and then come back and tell me you don't cry at kids' books...

It was Polar Express (before the film) for me.

I hated it. But then, having personal experience of the fact that not everyone is born with 10 fingers and toes maybe made me a bit sensitive to the book suggesting that is all that matters!

Doesn't make me cry and I blub at anything. How are you supposed to kiss someone's nose while reading them a story, eh, they're pointing the wrong way.

I defy you to get through where Dave tries to tell the lady it was his Dogger but she doesn't understand him without wanting to scream "GIVE HIM HIS DOGGER BACK YOU TOY STEALING BITCH!"

Just to check if you really are devoid of all emotion, try the book or film of Shadowlands (story of how CS Lewis met his wife and married her as she was dying). I defy anyone not to leak even the tiniest bit over this story.

Goodnight Moon!
No idea why!

Apparently Peepo is about the last time Alan Ahlberg saw his dad.

Yes - I was going to recommend 'Once three were Giants' as a bit of a tear jerker!

Nope, read Peepo and Dogger many times, they're lovely books but have never made me cry. Not even close. Especially Dogger.

Dd2 was born missing her left hand.
It made me cry but not for the reason they meant. It may have been burnt afterwards.

Otoh another Ahlberg book (will look up name) has the BEST JOKE IN THE WORLD:

Did you hear about the magic tractor?
It turned into a FIELD

Hahaha.
