Round lasagne

I've made lasagne for tea. I grabbed the first pot I could see to bake it in. It's round. All four members of my family have separately walked into the kitchen and said 'round lasagne?!'

Is it that odd?

I'm thinking of making a square apple pie to go with it Smile

Must have been a bugger snapping all the lasagne sheets to fit in a round dish Grin

It is a bit odd, but hey ho. I suppose cutting and serving would be easier this way - just like cutting a cake.

I've done round ones before too. Mine are so gutsy they never even commented :)

Pita to cut the sheets and also to slice into portions surely? You definitely should bake a square apple pie now though!

The dish just fits one lasagne sheet in the middle then one broken in half and put down the sides. Lots of gaps but I do love a sloppy lasagne Smile

My lasagnes are round. As are my cottage pies, apple pies, stew and dumplings, pasta bakes, pies.

I only have round dishes.

Yeah didn't think about serving it up, but mine are always a bit sloppy so the nice rectangles of lasange on a plate don't really apply anyway!

A bit odd, yes.

I did this the other week for the same reasons as you and it was a right pain in the arse. Snapping the sheets to fit wound me up far more than it should have.

I don't think it's odd. Lots of restaurants do little oval oven dishes for it don't they? :)

Mine is always round. I only have round dishes.

Snapping sheets? What you don't make your own fresh, round lasagne sheets?

Tut.

Outrageous! DM made a square pork pie at Christmas and it caused ructions.

Of the fine flour stuff that is whatever I usually use for the fresh pasta stuff Smile

My apple pies are always square (or rectangular) because I buy blocks of pastry, so its easier!

On my slow cooker saddos forum I think someone used wraps instead of pasta. Would solve the sheet snapping problem although not sure of the taste!

Report
The5DayChicken · 21/06/2015 17:07

Surely that has a horrible texture Doc? It would effectively turn into soggy bread!

haveabreakhaveakitkat · 21/06/2015 17:08

Eeeeew at wraps. That's not right at all.

Love the idea of a round lasagne. Give them a salad with it, with some cucumber and tomato cut into squares, say nothing, see if they can handle that Grin

I have simplified my life since my friend taught me you can mix up meat sauce, cheese sauce and normal pre cooked pasta all together and when you bake it tastes as good as lasagne without all the stress of sheet snapping and layering. Grin

I think a rectangular apple pie might collapse in the middle but may have to make one to check as I think it would improve the ratio of apple to pastry?
