What say you?

Yanbu, I think men are such lovely, uncomplicated creatures.

My dh wouldn't mind. He spent Mother's Day with his dm which I thought was a lovely gesture. He's there again today actually.

I did wonder how many of them are ranting over their presents not being good enough or the cards not being nice enough etc etc Grin

On (and in the run up to) Mother's Day AIBU is bristling.

DH got a home made card from DS and a bacon sandwich. I get the same on Mother's Day. Wonderful. Grin

Indeed! Grin

Somehow I just cant see many Fathers complaining that they have to share a dinner table with their FILs....

My DH got a very expensive present from DS (which he DH paid for), a cake which the maid bought him (which he DH paid for) she doesn't know he hates cake, a crap card from the bottom of the drawer. And he couldn't give a F. He has gone to the office. Happy Father's Day daddy. Every year he says, "We never did it in our house, it is pointless." But every year we make a lame effort. And every year he cares about us even less. Will he even be around next year? Who knows. Or cares? Bitter much.

"I think it's time for your fil to step back and realise YOU'RE the daddy now, mate! YaDnbu!"

"This isn't a fil problem pal...it's a dw one. She needs to learn to put you first."

"My dw has treated me to a blowjob and booked a table at Screwfix. She might drop in on her df later of course, but just briefly. I am the sire of her offspring so I come first."

pictish Grin. My partner has buggered orf to London, seeing his father. He's already giving his unborn child issues not being here.

Actually, kind of glad he's gone. He was getting far too mushy, thinking it would be 'cute' to get a father's day card from 'bump'. I mean, very glad he's so excited, but come on.....

I had to prod DH into action as he considers it a 'made-up' occasion. The DC, both male, had to be similarly pointed in the direction of the shops. My own DF is no longer with us, but he always liked Fathers Day and would have been disgruntled to find the day not appropriately marked.

The father of my
Children has taken them to his mothers to visit with his mum and dad. After which he will bring them
Back so we can visit my dad.

We have visited dh's grandfather this morning and his father and my father are coming over for a bbq (as well as MiL, my brother and my grandparents).

We got dh a few presents and the kids drew him pictures. He's watching F1 now.

Have been a bit surprised by lack of preening Father's Day posts.

I wish my DH would dial it down a bit on mothers day.

Know what you mean but I think it's an unfair comparison. You see lots of women on here complaining because they get stuck with an unfair share of the housework and childcare, hope for a day off on Mother's Day, and then the DH heads off to go and honour the mother who so lifted and laid him as a child that he still thinks it's fine to throw a deaf ear to all the housework. I can see why they blow their tops on Mother's Day.

DP is at work, so will get his Father's day stuff later, as DS is away on a sleepover and it's didn't seem fair to leave DS out of the card/present giving.

I'm off to collect DS now, and with DD in tow we're going to visit my dad for a few minutes. DP's dad passed away a few years ago, or we'd have gone there too.

We don't do anything for Father's day usually.

However ds (8yo) just announced that as a Fathers day treat he is willing to play football with him. He says all dads want to play football with their ds on Fathers day.

Ds loves football, dh is not very keen. Grin

That is very cute, deewe.

Dp has gone off fishing, dd and I are having a super chilled out day. Win win in my eyes. Loads better than going for dinner in a heaving restaurant or pub.

Lots of the women I know have put up Facebook posts about how great their OH's are as fathers.
I don't remember any of the men I know doing the same for their partners on Mother's Day.

Men are like tables or robots really aren't they? Thoughtless, and no feelings.

What kind of sorry-arse men are you associating with?

And if it's on FB it must be true

I saw my Dad yesterday and will see him again tomorrow (albeit very briefly both times) but I haven't seen him today.

We're not massive on Mother's / Father's day but I always make an effort to get them a card and a token gift for them on the morning. This year I made my Dad come and collect his own gift yesterday. My Dad rocks!
