My bf always asks me to wash his work clothes at ridiculous hours. The other night it was 12am I

Going on strike suggests you think it's your job.

Tell him to wash his own clothes if he wants them done for a particular time. ffs

ilovesooty Wed 17-Jun-15 14:38:11

Is this serious? Tell him his work clothes are his responsibility, whatever the time is.

expatinscotland Wed 17-Jun-15 14:39:24

Why are you striking? Tell him to wash his own shit. You're not a maid or hotel service.

FurryScoob Wed 17-Jun-15 14:41:25

My DP attempted this when he first moved in, he didn't do it for long.
Conversation usually went,

DP: what's the chances of these clothes being washed for tomorrow?
Me: about the same chance as you putting them in the wash & remembering to take them out to dry.
Took 3 weeks & he got the message! grin

Oops hang on.

I told him no! He started huffing and puffing as there was stuff in the washing machine already which he had to put in the dryer before he could wash his stuff.
"Oh ffs. Why do I have to hang other people's stuff out?!"
I asked him to hang a cover over the door to dry and he just threw it over. I told him he needed to lay it flat or it won't dry propely.
"Well if your so bothered you do it yourself" was the response I got so I asked him if he'd hang his own stuff out like that, he just mumbled some shit and I ignored him.

Last night, after I had been to the shop and made dinner (for the second time as i burnt the first lotgrin)
About to sit down he says
"make me a drink please"
annoying but I make it anyway. Then it's take me shoes off, pass my drink, pass my phone blah blah blah. I'd had enough so when he asks when dessert is I said
"I don't know when are you doing it?"
Well this is when ww3 broke out! Slamming doors, ffs, why do I have to do this. You'll have to have it on a plate there's no bowls and I haven't come here to wash up! ffs where is everything. Do I put the tin of custard in the microwave or in the bowl?(shock)

So after he begrudgingly he made me cake and custard he puts a wash on. Then ever so nicely says to me " you don't have to stay up to dry it, I'll do it in the morning" wtf! So I told him I wasn't planning on staying up and he huff and puffed and went to bed!

So AIBU to not make dinner as I'm not hungry and why should I make dinner for someone else?!

ollieplimsoles Wed 17-Jun-15 14:41:41

wtf OP! Strike is bullshit thats not your job!

Can he not work the washing machine? because my DH can't

FarFromAnyRoad Wed 17-Jun-15 14:42:10

Super! Enjoy!

AoifeBell Wed 17-Jun-15 14:42:20

Oh yes and apparently I shouldn't moan because that's my job!!

AoifeBell Wed 17-Jun-15 14:43:43

He can work the machine yes he pretends he can't so he thinks I'll do it for him. Or he'll take ages and moan.

FarFromAnyRoad Wed 17-Jun-15 14:44:01

The only one who can change this irritatingly childlike situation is you. Strike? Why bother? Just detach yourself from someone who thinks like this - why are you even with this dick?

ilovesooty Wed 17-Jun-15 14:44:17

Is he great in bed or something? I'm struggling to see any redeeming features here.

expatinscotland Wed 17-Jun-15 14:44:24

Sounds like an abusive cunt. You're being a mug to stay with him.

rockybalboa Wed 17-Jun-15 14:46:27

He asks you to take his shoes off?!? Twunt is about right but why are you putting up with this shit?!?

squigglehead Wed 17-Jun-15 14:46:49

Reeeeeally struggling to see any reason at all why you're in a relationship with such an at best misogynistic, at worst abusive, utter cunt confused

CaptainAnkles Wed 17-Jun-15 14:46:54

Agree with expat. He sounds like a nightmare. Get rid.

whois Wed 17-Jun-15 14:47:05

Why is your self esteem so low you're living with someone who talks to you like dirt?

AoifeBell Wed 17-Jun-15 14:47:57

Very good Ilovesooty! grin

He's amazing in every other way it's just this lazy-your-the-woman-you-cook-and-clean shit that's pissing me off.

expatinscotland Wed 17-Jun-15 14:49:44

He's not amazing. He treats you like a domestic appliance with convenient holes. But hey, it's your life if you want to put up with such a person.

CaptainAnkles Wed 17-Jun-15 14:49:45

I wouldn't be able to get past the misogynist bullshit to the amazing part tbh. It's such a fundamental part of someone, ie them showing that they value and respect you as a person.

AoifeBell Wed 17-Jun-15 14:50:58

My self esteem is fine which is why I'm not being his lacky anymore. I don't think he's abusive I think it's a severe case of being the baby at home and he needs to do some maturing

LazyLouLou Wed 17-Jun-15 14:51:16

He sounds utterly delightful. But you know that, don't you?

At least it sounds as though you aren't living together - I haven't come here to wash up! - so you have nothing to lose by telling him to sod off and take his childish crap with him!

And even if you are living together you certainly aren't a partnership, and you can throw his backside out for that too!

Either way, you really don't have to put up with him. You can get rid of lot of hassle quite easily and quickly.

Good luck!

IUseAnyName Wed 17-Jun-15 14:51:26

Are you his 1st girlfriend since he left his mum?.... Never ever live with a someone unless theyve lived on their own 1st! Your not his mum (although it does sound like youre talking about a teeneger).... Heck I wouldnt tollerate this attitude from my children!

Bair Wed 17-Jun-15 14:51:45

PHANTOMnamechanger Wed 17-Jun-15 14:51:55

But OP, he cant possibly be amazing in every other way if he talks to you that disrespectfully AT ALL

it saddens me that people base far too much on whether folk look good/are good in bed - and don't worry about the actual important stuff like mutual respect and trust and sharing all the crappy boring everyday bits of life like cooking and cleaning.

he sounds very immature and selfish, and you need to believe you can do better!
