I'm a Conservative voter (but pretty socially liberal) and I actually think Jeremy Corbyn is the best choice of the options out there...he's actually a fucking socialist, for one. The others are just "pale blue in red jackets" blairite champagne "socialists". I think that the rise of the SNP and the Green Party should show the Labour Party leadership there is space and desire for a party on the left of centre.

The only reason "people" (deliberately in inverted commas because I'm not sure who they are) thought that Ed Milibean was on the left was because he was further left than Blair and Brown - both of whom were pretty far right, as far as policies in general were concerned.

I think Labour lost a lot of votes for being Tory-lite tbh. I'm not a Labour voter (although I have voted tactically for them on a number of occasions) - but I have heard many of my ex-Labour (middle class) friends say they would return to the party if he becomes leader. So yes - personally I would love Tories to vote for him.

Labour Party members should have the whole spectrum of the party to choose from. No one expects Jeremy Corbyn to win but his views are representative of a section of the party who are entitled to have them heard in a Leadership campaign so the membership can choose. We celebrate diversity and difference, unlike the Conservatives who can not tolerate difference and would like us to all be either public school educated with private healthcare or shut up and go away. They don't want to be a state that takes responsibility for its most vulnerable people. Nor do they want ordinary children to succeed. Protect the rich at the expense of the poor and vulnerable and propagate the class divide.

LuluJakey1 Labour are selecting someone who they feel can become the next Prime Minister. There is no point having someone who doesn't fit that bill on the candidates' list.

It just means that other candidates will pander to Corbyn's first-preference voters and therefore be forced to tack left. Nobody in their right mind would believe that Jeremy Corbyn is going to be our next Prime Minister.

That is what Tories don't get because the Conservative Party is not based on values and building a better society for the many but on greed and protectionism of the privileged few.
