to sign up as Labour supporters, and pay £3 to elect Jeremy Corbyn as leader of the Labour party?

Yes, you're giving £3 to Labour, which requires some tooth gritting, but the value of an anti-Labour government in 2020 will be incalculable. The £3 would be worth it in comedy value alone.

Um, no. I am a Conservative (with a big C voter). I'm in favour of an open and honest democracy. Why an earth would I seek to mislead people?

Grow up. You Tories are really fucking childish and boorish, very like most of your MPs. Winning really wasn't enough for you was it.

Or I could spend £3 on something worthwhile that means something to me.

Hard choice.

And also Biscuit. We all know after the last election that Twitter hubris means nothing.

Despite the fact I may not agree with them, I credit most Labour voters with more than enough intelligence not to vote based on a hashtag.

how cunty is that idea!

I'll stick with honest democracy thanks

Or I will not read a crap paper like the guardian which is as left wing as the mail is right and save my £3 and spend it on something worth while like a cake.

I'm a Conservative voter (but pretty socially liberal) and I actually think Jeremy Corbyn is the best choice of the options out there...he's actually a fucking socialist, for one. The others are just "pale blue in red jackets" blairite champagne "socialists". I think that the rise of the SNP and the Green Party should show the Labour Party leadership there is space and desire for a party on the left of centre.

The only reason "people" (deliberately in inverted commas because I'm not sure who they are) thought that Ed Milibean was on the left was because he was further left than Blair and Brown - both of whom were pretty far right, as far as policies in general were concerned.

The Labour party have made themselves a joke by putting Jeremy Corbyn on the ballot. It would be like the Tories putting up Jacob Rees-Mogg.

They have made it possible for the general public to elect a joke Labour leader. They should not complain when people avail themselves of the opportunity.

Ah, it'll pale in comparison next to the Tories desperately trying to make a show of knowing how to handle the Euro referendum. Heard the first of (no doubt) many discussions of this on the radio tonight. That's what's going to keep me entertained for the next few years and I don't even have to pay £3.

Each to their own!

Actually Jacob Rees-Mogg is one of the finest Parliamentarians of recent times. His defence of our ancient liberties is peerless. But even as a huge fan, I can see he couldn't be Tory leader.

The £3 would be worth it in comedy value alone. Fiddling while Rome burns. If you take politics this lightly, possibly abstaining from voting altogether might be safest.

A truly socialist leader might actually prove to be popular. Then, hallelujah we might truly be in this together.

Anything is better than this shower of shites who don't give a shit about the severely disabled or vulnerable. I'd vote for anyone who promised not to use the phrase 'hard working families' ever again.

I think Labour lost a lot of votes for being Tory-lite tbh. I'm not a Labour voter (although I have voted tactically for them on a number of occasions) - but I have heard many of my ex-Labour (middle class) friends say they would return to the party if he becomes leader. So yes - personally I would love Tories to vote for him.

And once the cuts start affecting real people (rather than just those with disabities & reliant on social care - they really have pretty much bled them dry) - who knows, we might all rediscover our inner socialist.

Labour Party members should have the whole spectrum of the party to choose from. No one expects Jeremy Corbyn to win but his views are representative of a section of the party who are entitled to have them heard in a Leadership campaign so the membership can choose. We celebrate diversity and difference, unlike the Conservatives who can not tolerate difference and would like us to all be either public school educated with private healthcare or shut up and go away. They don't want to be a state that takes responsibility for its most vulnerable people. Nor do they want ordinary children to succeed. Protect the rich at the expense of the poor and vulnerable and propagate the class divide.

LuluJakey1 Labour are selecting someone who they feel can become the next Prime Minister. There is no point having someone who doesn't fit that bill on the candidates' list.

It just means that other candidates will pander to Corbyn's first-preference voters and therefore be forced to tack left. Nobody in their right mind would believe that Jeremy Corbyn is going to be our next Prime Minister.

Boris Johnson

You want to discuss the ridiculous choice of potential party leaders Hmm

Report
LuluJakey1 · 17/06/2015 00:41

The whole range of Labour views has a right to be represented and membets can make their choice. This is not the time to narrow a debate and exclude people. That is what Tories don't get because the Conservative Party is not based on values and building a better society for the many but on greed and protectionism of the privileged few.

I find myself able to respect political views of all sorts but your suggestion is just pathetic OP. Seems like the sort of political gesture a teenager would think was clever. Go back to watching Clarkson on Top Gear and let the grown-ups take care of politics

Assumption couldn't be more wrong, you're entitlement to your opinion, as am I.Clarkson on topgear?
