To have given DS1 pizza for breakfast?

DS1 (14yo) loves his food. He's not so keen on school work. We have had lots of "issues" over revision for the y/e exams.

Anyway during one of our -fights discussions he picked up a take-away menu that had come through he door and said if I work hard and do well in maths (where he struggles) can we have a pizza delivered?

This is something we do very rarely and seemed like a great idea if it would get him to work, so I agreed and he did work really hard (compared to previous efforts, anyway) and got a good result, for him.

We gave him free reign to order what he wanted last night and naturally, he ordered too much. I hate food waste, so he had the leftovers for breakfast.

That's not terrible, is it?

Nah we love pizza for breakfast here and my DD is only 4. It's a rarity, she's fed and happy, and I can't summon the energy to worry about it to be honest! So YANBU

Well, if I'm entirely honest I don't think it's very nice but I'm thinking that's probably because I'm accustomed to thinking a healthy start to the day is best - even if the rest of the day doesn't quite live up to it!

That's the argument I was having with myself Klayden & TheMoa. We're really hot on a proper breakfast here, it goes downhill as the day goes on, but I don't buy boxed cereal and breakfast is usually eggs, porridge or fish and fruit and yogurt. Cheese or sardines on toast.

I just sounds wrong, if someone were to ask him what he had for breakfast...

It's fine! DS(6) had a donut for breakfast today! (We had some Krispy Kremes over from last week and I wanted to get them eaten so I could put the box in recycling.)
As long as it's not an every day thing it's fine!

No, I sometimes do pizza for breakfast. I think we are far to bound to specific things for breakfast in this country! I'd far rather pizza over sugary cereal.

Oh, I loved cold pizza for breakfast! It is mostly bread with topping/sandwich filler!

My mums home made pizza was like a big 3 cm tall pizza pai, with bolognaise filling!

I don't see that pizza is that unhealthy. Obviously depends on the type of pizza you have - but, dough = flour and water (ie bread), tomatoes, mozzarella (and if you have soft buffalo type is far less fatty than cheddar for example), basil, drizzle of olive oil (better than butter on toast). That's healthier than most British breakfasts.

I'm not going to try and kid myself that take-away pizza is "healthy" but I'd be interested to know what is fiveacres, as unfortunately so much of what parents feed Dc in the morning, believing they're going the best for them , is truly rubbish.

Eggs, bacon, black pudding, toms, mushrooms and toast (or fried bread ) is probably still one of the best breakfasts about and look how that's been vilified.

Also, at 14, he is going to start eating quite a few unusual breakfasts before his teens are done!

Personally I don't agree with bribing/rewarding kids for academic achievement, or with pizza for breakfast. I don't think either sends the right message. I admit I'm a grouch.

I used to agree with you on the bribing/rewarding Theycallme, but when DC were little I could just "make" them do things. It's much harder now. And, TBF, I wouldn't work as hard as I do at work if they didn't pay me (or turn up at all) . We all get "bribed" everyday.
