Yanbu, I can't wait for it all to end!
I'm a SAHM and we have a few holidays and day trips planned ( though Dp will be working as we had a family holiday a few weeks back and he can't take much more time off) .
I do fully appreciate that many others struggle with juggling their children and work though.

I won't miss the school run but I'll still have to rush the dc's off to childcare 2/3 days a week so I can get to work on time.

At least it's not cold though..

YANBU. I love the school holidays. No alarm (at least for 4 mornings a week), no homework, no clubs. Just a bit of time to "be". Just hope we get some sun so that the DCs can play out!

Looking forward to it as well. I know they'll drive me crazy by squabbling by about 10am on day one but I do love DD1 being home and miss her every morning. Can't believe she's at the end of year 2 already though!

Def NBU, I look forward to the holidays too. I have a child who likes to be busy so we are already booking up some events to spread out across the weeks. It can't come round fast enough for me!

These are the best weeks! (Teacher here)

For the next few weeks you have the anticipation of summer, long lazy days in the garden with the kids, days out to the beach etc... but in a few weeks time the reality will be drizzle and grizzle and only a few weeks until term starts again

I'm a bit of both. My eldest is finishing primary in a few weeks and I'm all excited for him but also a bit sad.

What!? Today is the end of half term here... When do you all finish for the summer?

I work in primary school, working with parents.

My workload goes LOOPY as the probability/actuality of big holidays (christmas/easter/summer) draws closer.

My parents go INSANE at the horrendous prospect of having to look after their own DCs. It's all the school's fault, apparently.

So LOVIN' the parents on here looking forward to it. Utterly understand the teachers. And I will be like a limp rag on 18th July!

But can't wait!

It's the sandwiches. Every frigging night, when you think you're done, the bloody sandwiches still need doing for tomorrow. That and uniform washing.

When they're off school, they still need feeding and clothes washing but somehow it is different.

Yes...and No Grin

I love the lie in's and not watching the clock on my days off in the hols (I work part time) but I could do without the endless refereeing between the DC, the moaning, the constant requests for money etc etc.

I guess the people that are looking forward to the holidays most are SAHPs or people with long holidays or who have booked annual leave at that time.

IME WOHP tend to think "aargh" at the prospect of 6 weeks to try and juggle annual leave, childcare, favours from people and roping in as much family as possible.

The summer holidays are not relaxing and stress free in that situation Grin

Me too, me too!!

Hang on…that's my school run to work each day, marking the homework…

It'll be the fortnight winter break here in Au in two weeks' time and just in time.Smile

Oh and derek just quickly, have you contacted your local council?

I know mine runs sports clubs and playschemes that are pretty reasonably priced, they tend to be quite good if you are not working set hours every week.

I love the freedom of not having to be anywhere at a specific time. I love that the days are "longer" because I don't have to finishe stuff by 2:30 to get ready for the school run. I actually love having my children hanging about the house and being able to do whatever the hell we like.

DS1 finishes this Friday (Y11), DS2 finishes 2-3 weeks after that. DD finishes 3 weeks after DS2 :)

[sigh]

I'm actually getting a bot stressed over it. We're going to be away for almost 3 weeks, in 2 blocks, so I don't have the long weeks of hanging around at home to look forward to.

The holidays will be great and I'm looking forward to them, but I do feel we'll be missing out on just "being"

I cannot wait.

No school runs, no watching the clock for preschool and school pick up. Lazy days in pj's, family holiday and messing about in the garden and taking the new puppy for walks to the local play park.

I can't wait too. We break up on Friday and then 11 weeks of no homework, tests and early mornings. Hoorah!
