As a newbie to ask...?

Hello! Fresh out of the wrapper member. Been reading a while and love the lack of neon, swearing ( we need to sometimes ) and honesty.
Can anyone take time to fill me in on etiquette? Abbreviations etc? So I avoid accidents.....cheers .

I am not a text speak fan thankfully, I don't understand half of it! Ah, the username thing I didn't know! It's a hint at my job. First thing that came to mind. Some brilliant usernames on here. I've giggled at a few while creeping silently around the site.....
