To wear white to a wedding?

DP of 6 years recently proposed to me with a beautiful vintage-style engagement ring and we are currently planning our wedding for autumn next year. As I like vintage clothes and the ring itself is vintage I thought it would make sense to wear a vintage style dress and absolutely fell in love with one I found online (pic below!). Unfortunately, as you can see if I haven't screwed up the pic, it's white and I know that some people consider it taboo to wear white to a wedding. I would really appreciate some guidance on this as I adore this dress and would so love to wear it. Thank you Smile

Why would it be an issue for you to wear white at your own wedding? Hmm

It's taboo to wear white to SOMEONE ELSES wedding but not taboo, and the general norm, to wear white if you are the bride and it's your wedding.

Eh? am I misunderstanding this post? It's totally fine to wear white if you're the bride!

You're worried about wearing white to your OWN wedding?

Its considered rude to wear white to someone else's wedding.

Do you mean because white is for virgin brides or something? Because no one does that.

You wear white if you want, as long as it's your wedding.

If you're planning on wearing that to someone else's wedding then you are totally BU, if it's your own, I don't understand what the issue is. You want to wear a wedding dress to your own wedding.

I WAS convinced I was wearing white for my wedding..... All the white dresses I tried looked awful on me and opted for ivory instead.
It's fine for you to wear white at your own wedding though, it's rude for the guests to opt for the white dresses.

I don't think that you can wear that at all.

You'll upstage everyone!

Congrats & it's a beautiful dress.

This is a stealth boast to show off the dress, isn't it??

Come ON people - OP is clearly being tongue in cheek! OP, that is a lovely dress and worth risking Hmm looks from guests who would be appalled at your audacity to wear white to your wedding. Buy it, its beautiful! And congrats on your engagement Flowers

That really is a beautiful dress. I'm not especially enamoured with weddings dresses usually but that's just gorgeous.

In fact I'd wear it constantly - other people's weddings, the supermarket, job interviews, pizza express...

Just one word of warning. See it in real life.

If it's one from China that lace may look like a 70's lace curtain Grin

@SewingBox Wink
@Diddl A little bit yes Wink

BTW I keep getting locked out of my account (just about every metal themed name is probably me) for no reason, has this happened to anyone else?
