Enjoying a philosophical question with my beloved DH

Happily married but he poses a question to the wise women of Mumsnet\;

Is he unreasonable for spending his disposable income on bikes, guitars, his specific hobby related stuff - or would it be worse if he was out sleeping with other women?

He does buy me nice things, and he says we can afford his hobbies.

I defer to the wise women on here for an opinion..........

That depends on how you calculate 'disposable' surely. If it's really money you can spare, and you get similar for your fun activities, then what's the problem. But if disposable income actually means money you need for bills or savings then it's not very fair.

You what now?

Ps. I'm not suggesting that the second alternative is reasonable by the way, but assuming this stems from discussion about spending on hobbies.

That is not a philosophical question, it's a nonsensical one.

Stealing is better than murder, but that doesn't make either ok.

A potato is not like a chipmunk either.

If it's "his" (as in a fair share of the total) and is disposable income then why not?
What would you rather he bought with it?

Ridiculous question... How are the two comparable in any way?
Is it his disposable income? Have you got disposable income? If so he can spend it however he wants. If not, it still has no resemblance to sleeping with another woman.

ghostyslovesheep Tue 09-Jun-15 21:27:09

jesus they are your options?

spend money V sleep around??

MrsSheRa Tue 09-Jun-15 21:27:56

Why have you referred to your Beloved husband, wrote that he is happily married, then referred to the women on mumsnet as Wise twice?

I'm well in suspicious mode after the Sordid Affair threads

And yes, you seem to be a little confused in your OP as to whether you are the man or woman in this scenario...

Is he unreasonable for spending his disposable income on bikes, guitars, his specific hobby related stuff - or would it be worse if he was out sleeping with other women?

depends if the total disposable income is equally shared

he says we can afford his hobbies why don't you KNOW if you can or not?

WorraLiberty Tue 09-Jun-15 21:35:03

Anyone else reading the OP in the voice of Gyles Brandreth? grin

No? Just me than blush

milkysmum Tue 09-Jun-15 21:36:27

Eh?? Spend spare money on hobbies or shag around? Hmmm let me think about that one......

Thisismyfirsttime Tue 09-Jun-15 21:37:08

Is he suggesting that if you don't 'let' him spend his money on those things sleeping with other women will be his alternative?! I don't understand otherwise how the two are comparable?

LaurieFairyCake Tue 09-Jun-15 21:37:26

Equal disposable income

No fucking anyone else without prior agreement

At least that's how we roll in the Fairycake house
