AIBU?

That CBBC presenters wear too much make up?

Aibu to think the make up artists have lost the plot and we should not be teaching young girls that this is the nirm

The blonde presenter looks like she is wearing a mask - is this really what we want to teach preteens is normal? Even the Blue peter presenter often has a full on going out at night face and is lippytastic.

I love my makeup and rarely leave the house without it but look nothing like them!

Can the kids that watch CBBC tell that they are wearing makeup?

I think this is a wider issue, but kids are going to see heavy makeup on their favourite singers, actors and celebs.

Do you really think they should go minimum make up soas not to influence girls watching blue peter ? Tv presenters need to wear make up or they look washed out why would a tv presenter want to look blah just in case a 10yr old is watching ? what is wrong with make up ?

Dear god Grin

Unless the presenters are specifically telling girls they should wear make-up, and how to apply it, YABVU indeed!

Should every single woman in a child's life wear less/no make-up too then, or is it only presenters on CBBC?

Oh and a quote from your OP...

I love my makeup and rarely leave the house without it

So what exactly are you teaching your kids?

You are being unreasonable

How on earth do you think of such things?

YANBU to think that role models are important. You're one of the most important role models your DC will ever have, though Wink

I think Natasha Kaplinsky wears too much but it's never influenced the amount I wear. Many do for that matter but I think kids look straight past that. The only time I've copied a presenters make up was when I watched blue peter and Connie Huq was wearing a really glossy lip gloss so I put water on my lips to try and copy. I don't think you're in a position to complain when you wear it yourself

We saw mister maker filming one day and he was caked in powder. To be fair it was a very very hot day so I guess there was quite a bit of 'shine' to take away. He was also pretty orange. Very nice though, came and said hi and posed for a picture. Smile

Well, make-up is pretty harmless, it's just a fashion thing. Women have worn it for centuries (and lots of men too these days).

I'm more concerned about the pretending to be stupid thing that the girl on Blue Peter often does.

It's just done now that it's all filmed in HD I think. TV lighting isn't very forgiving and is very bright - without makeup you wouldn't be able to make out features too well, I think, and in HD you can see the makeup more - does that make sense?

I have to say that I recently watched a programme with that Naomi, and she gave an eyelash sample to test for eyelash mites or lice or whatever -but all they could find was mascara.
Which I thought was a bit silly.

Crikey, people over analyse everything these days.

Oh somebody was on something ages ago (cant remember who) talking about being filmed in HD and they said the make up would need to be delivered by truck Grin.

The lights would bounce off unmade up faces if they didnt wear make up wouldnt it ?

They were being accused of being too skinny the other week.

It does have to be caked on for the lighting. I certainly wouldn't wanna see my bare face in HD Grin

YABU and ridiculous.

Do you really think your kids notice the presenters make up more than yours?!

Also, yes they wear make up but it's hardly winged eyeliner and bright red lips is it? Just to make them look like they have a face under the studio lights!
