Have been on MN a while so not a total newbie but not long enough to get some of the slightly more out-there references. Can someone please explain to me about the goats????

UterusUterusGhali Thu 04-Jun-15 23:16:42

They're a bit like sheep.

Eat anything.

JustHavinABreak Thu 04-Jun-15 23:17:40

hmm Brilliant username btw

TwinkieTwinkle Thu 04-Jun-15 23:18:08

They can be angry little fuckers!

Only1scoop Thu 04-Jun-15 23:18:51

They chew knicker lastics

Something about having space in your council house to graze a goat , or along those lines

Reference often used to call troll on a benefits bashing thread without actually calling troll

I think the goat thing was about a present you can get on someone's behalf like a charity thing.

gallicgirl Thu 04-Jun-15 23:19:59

They trip-trap over bridges.

Clip-clop clip-clop.

Who's that trip-trapping over MY bridge?

(Just realised that this particular bedtime story may have been read a bit often)

Isn't it something to do with a old thread where someone managed to convince a few posters that people on benefits got a free goat or something?

JustHavinABreak Thu 04-Jun-15 23:20:56

Thanks Closer! That makes sense now that I have read it in context. Was feeling a bit lost!

Zebda Thu 04-Jun-15 23:21:01

I thought it was to do with bartering a goat for a massive flat screen TV?

JustHavinABreak Thu 04-Jun-15 23:21:45

Thanks Monster!

JustHavinABreak Thu 04-Jun-15 23:23:43

And as for the rest of you...well I have laughed so hard I just woke my 11 month old grin Clip clop clip clop indeed grin

SanityClause Thu 04-Jun-15 23:24:14

A long time ago, there was a benefits bashing thread where someone said people on benefits "really got her goat". From then on, people on benefits are well known on MN to have enoooooourmous flat screen televisions, and goats.

AuntyBatshit Thu 04-Jun-15 23:25:40

What •Opio* said...think it's to do with the perfect crappy (I got one for Christmas and loved it grin ) gift to give to a grabby flumpnut

UterusUterusGhali Thu 04-Jun-15 23:40:10

Oooooh. Those goats.

I honestly couldn't think what you meant. I avoid benefits threads now. sad

raspberryriot Thu 04-Jun-15 23:43:50

I like goats. Got a bit of a thing about pygmy goats actually. Nice.

They mate for life....they stay together for the sake of the kids.

Malice You can't really pee in a straw hat, can you? You just pee through a straw hat.

AtiaoftheJulii Fri 05-Jun-15 09:09:28

I had a very solid straw boater as a child, you could have definitely peed in that.

CarriesBucketOfBlood Fri 05-Jun-15 09:18:43

Atiao I am very impressed at how tight the weaving must've been. In my best grandma voice: 'They don't make 'em like they used to!

londonrach Fri 05-Jun-15 09:20:39

Thanks op for getting everyone to explain the goat thing to me. Think mn sometimes needs a manual...

AtiaoftheJulii Fri 05-Jun-15 16:48:12

It was one of these.

Not like the one this goat is wearing.
