AIBU?

AIBU to answer the door in my pj's?

Each Friday my DP and I order pizza. It is delivered around 9pm by which time I have usually showered and changed into my pyjamas. When the pizza arrives I open the door and pay/collect in my pj's.

During a conversation yesterday my DP informed me how much he hates this. He thinks I should cover up and put my dressing gown on in case the delivery man can see my nipples! Just for context I am a middle aged woman wearing comfy baggy old pyjamas - nothing sexy or revealing and I cannot understand this attitude! He of course could answer the door himself but he refuses to do this.

Is he being controlling and overreacting or am I doing something wrong? I know this sounds silly but he is still annoyed and I do not know what to do. Stand my ground as I do not think I have done anything wrong or just cover up to make him happy? Opinions gratefully recieved. Thank you.

He's being a dick. Refuse to go to the door in future. Take your top off and say 'you go or I'm going like this'. Is he a dick about other things or just this?

He's a douche.

Either he answers the door or he quits bitching.

Nothing wrong with that - might make the delivery man uncomfortable if you opened the door in a skimpy negligee but I think comfy pjs is fine!

Think DH should pipe down or open the door himself!!

I'd answer the door in my bikini

He's a douche? Because he expressed his opinion?

Man. I am glad I am not married to you.

Anyway, if you feel you are covered sufficiently, ignore him and continue as you are.

Or perhaps, I don't know, talk to each other like grown ups?

Just an idea.

Why doesn't he answer the door himself?

If it bothers him that much he can answer the door but you say he won't so in that case he should stop complaining. I don't see why he won't answer the door though?

You're allowed relax in your pjs in your own home. Christ. I'm sure the pizza guy doesn't give a tiny shit and I bet he sees a lot worse than someone in their pjs.

What a weird thing to get annoyed about.

And what does he think will happen if the pizza delivery man sees your nipples? Would you both start shagging on the doorstep?

No, he's a douche for refusing to answer the door...

I'm more worried about the fact he refuses to answer the door himself. If my DH refused to answer the door for the takeaway delivery every time then next time I would only be ordering enough for myself. In fact if I was in my PJs and he wasn't I would expect him to go to the door.

I basically live in my PJs so anyone who comes to the door unexpectedly will find it answered by me in my PJs, they cover everything up as much as if I was dressed so I don't see the problem, if I know someone is coming I will get dressed/stay dressed. I am in a lot of pain every day and find PJs more comfortable so why not do what little I can to help and wear PJs around my own home

Thank you all for your replies. He suffers from anxiety and it makes him uncomfortable/finds it stressful to answer the door and wait for the delivery man to find change etc, (I give the delivery man the change as a tip but DP doesn't like to do this)

My PJs also cover more of me.

Usually I wear low cut, knee length jersey dresses. PJs consist of pajama trousers and matching long-sleeved t-shirt.

However, even if your pajamas do show your nipples they're still your nipples. Show them to whoever you wish.

what else does he find "stressful" ?

YABU

Pyjamas are for bed, not for greeting people at the door.

I hate this pyjamas are ok for at home attitude: if you're up, then just wear clothes.

Attitude?? In bed, I meant.

how bizarre. I sleep naked and were PJ type bottoms round the house in the evenings as they are more comfortable than jeans or trousers. wouldn't think twice about answering the door to anyone.

you come to my door, you take me as you find me

you live with me, you take me as you find me

you be in a partnership with me, you pull your weight and you support me in my choices no matter what is going on in your own life

If I'm at home I'm in my pyjamas. They are comfy and it means that I can take my bra off.

Buy a benny hill style 1960s baby doll nightie, then he will have something to complain about.

Dismal

You're talking about what people do in their own homes - how can it possibly affect you?! You wear clothes when you're up in your house; I'll wear PJs for the first four hours of a Saturday, and neither decision has the least impact on the other.

OP, YANBU - either your DP gets the door, or you get it wearing the clothes you happen to be in at the time!

Anyfucker...he seems to find life in general stressful which is a whole other problem/thread. I am trying to be understanding but don't know where to draw the line. Tell him he is being ridiculous when I think he is or go along with what he wants so as not to upset him?
