To think you don't keep potatoes in the fridge.

Dboyfriend attempting to be helpful put the raw uncooked jacket potatoes in the fridge.

The poor misguided soul feels this is entirely normal and I am unreasonable for keeping them in the cupboard.

AIBU?

Yabu. My potatoes are kept in the fridge, the same as every other fruit and veg except bananas...they last longer.

Mine are chillin' unless I run out of space. Then they get relegated.

I don't as there isn't room. But they do last longer, especially Jersey royals.

Most fridges are too cold to store potatoes.

Yabu. They last forever in the fridge.

You are supposed to store potatoes in the dark - which it is inside the fridge!

YANBU. I've never seen potatoes in the fridge, other than small bag of salad potatoes. I (and anybody I know) store them in a dark cupboard or if I have a big bag they go out to the garage.

I keep them in the fridge because they last longer in there. I've tried keeping them in a cupboard but they sprout very quickly in the warmth & go off before I can use them. So into the fridge they go.

Interesting! I might try keeping mine in the fridge. The smallest bag of all-rounders I can ever find is 2.5kg and we can't get through them without them sprouting etc! Never occurred to me to keep them in the fridge. Don't they go wrinkly? Green?

Nearly 50 years ago I worked on a market stall (Saturday job) and at the end of trading we stored the potatoes in the 'cold room' ie refrigerator. The market didn't open on Sunday and Monday so on the Wednesday the spuds were still fresh because they had been cold stored.

I keep mine in the fridge. Keeps them fresh for ages and they don't sprout.

No wrinkles, no greenness, no sprouts-amazing!

I keep them in the fridge, makes the fridge look full! Also I remember to use them if they are in the fridge as I see them all the time, if I put them in the cupboard I forget to use them!

I keep most potatoes in the fridge, except the bog standard white/maris pipers but thats only because of space

That's where I keep them. It meets the cool and dark criteria better than anywhere else in the kitchen.
