Ocado Delivery Mega Fail or AIBU?

My shopping has arrived and most items are ruined or contaminated by spilt cream. Even my front porch and door mat did not escape unscathed and I have have spent half an hour cleaning it all up. (I'm convinced I can still smell sour cream though)

Even the delivery man said it was the worst spoilt shopping he had ever seen and he took photos to show his bosses. WIBU to ask for a good will gesture as well as refund for contaminated items?

I am increasingly receiving a below standard delivery when once there was no one to touch Ocado for choice, value, good dates and general good service.

I know in the scheme of things it's a minor problem but it's still very frustrating when for convinience & health reasons I have shopping delivered to only find I have to venture out and buy missing/damaged stuff.

I think the time has come to part company. What's been your biggest home delivery fail?

why was it 'dumped' on your door step in such a mess ? surely the driver could have told you there was a problem then arrange to get it resolved.

mrsfuzzy Thu 21-May-15 14:37:58

sorry, meant to say, of course a full refund/ replacement should be given, no questions asked, but the driver sounds a bit dim for giving you the damaged goods to start with !

I think a goodwill gesture ceases to be a goodwill gesture if you have to ask for it. That said, they should certainly recompense you not only for the spoilt goods, but for the added inconvenience.

It's not necessarily their fault though, accidents happen.

Stealth Ocado boast!! grin

Seriously though, a bit of cream isn't too bad. I had a delivery from tesco recently with a broken pack of turkey mince all over it. I would have sent the whole lot back except I was badly stuck and we were starving. Have you ever spent half an hour on a Friday evening washing groceries in antibacterial soap? I have

wheretoyougonow Thu 21-May-15 14:40:09

Call them. I had this once and they gave a goodwill voucher as I said I shouldn't be expected to clean my groceries before I put them away!

Contraryish Thu 21-May-15 14:40:21

Looking at the picture, most of it will wipe off though anyway!

BobblyDollocks Thu 21-May-15 14:44:15

I have telephoned but I was number 9 in the queue so will try later. Stale cream is a bugger to clean off as it's become thick and congealed sad. I've used quite a bit of washing up liquid on my porch and mat but can't exactley use that on food items.

I will be asking for a refund once I get through. I know you can request refunds via their website but under circumstances I wish to speak to someone.

BobblyDollocks Thu 21-May-15 14:46:44

It won't wipe of butter as its seeped through the packaging (and got through other items packaging) and the cream smells quite sour sad . It really is every where (was a pint carton of cream, carton arrived empty) The lots going in bin.

BobblyDollocks Thu 21-May-15 14:47:46

That sounds gross Itchy.

I'd do it on the website. Because there are a lot of items, they will likely call you anyway, but the initial refund will be on it's way at least.

RhinestoneCowgirl Thu 21-May-15 14:50:11

Whenever I've had spilt milk on other items from Ocado the delivery driver has always immediately reassured me that I will be refunded straight away.

BobblyDollocks Thu 21-May-15 15:00:58

'Cowgirl the delivery man said he would refund the cream & eggs. But when ive looked on my electronic receipt it says shopping has been delivered and those items remain on my bill.

googoodolly Thu 21-May-15 15:03:14

It's a massive waste to chuck the whole lot in the bin confused - what a waste of food!

EachandEveryone Thu 21-May-15 15:10:27

Is Ocado more expensive or something? I've never noticed a difference I use them all the time, mainly because I have free delivery and the great service. Ring them up and they will send someone around to get them. They will also give you extra vouchers. This wouldn't bother me tbh.

BobblyDollocks Thu 21-May-15 15:16:16

Well it has obviously bothered me Each' hence the post. I online shop for convinience as well as health reasons and to receive shopping in such a state is an inconvenience. Not only that but I've had to spend quite a bit of time and energy cleaning my porch and doormat which for most people might not be a problem but it wasn't easy for me to do.

PickleSarnie Thu 21-May-15 15:21:10

Huh?!How is it boasting to say you shop at Ocado?! I've never found them more expensive than anywhere else. Perhaps they sell some fancier things that are naturally going to be more expensive, but for general groceries it's comparable with tesco. They do price match and send your voucher if it cost more with them

AtomicDog Thu 21-May-15 15:22:40

I'm amazed he left the goods with you tbh! I think in the past they've taken things like that away.

Fatstacks Thu 21-May-15 15:27:50

I'm surprised he left it too.

Call them or email the pic.

I'm sure they will give you a voucher,

Eat everything today then no need to wipe down the packs grin

slicedfinger Thu 21-May-15 15:31:24

I had a similar problem with a split fabric conditioner once. I emailed them a list of everything damaged and got full refund plus a small but welcome good will gesture. They know what us bagged with what (!) and even pointed out something in the bag that I had missed.

Daft of your driver to put it on your floor though!

BobblyDollocks Thu 21-May-15 15:57:23

Sliced Finger would you believe the driver did not even notice he was dribbling the gloopy greasy cream as he approached my door. The floodgates really opened when he lifted the bags out of the crate to pass to me. I had to bring it to his attention by which time it was everywhere. He was very shocked and apologetic but admitted he would be unable to clean such a mess up with a few wipes. I got the hose pipe on drive but even that would not shift the greasy mess ... It took elbow grease and washing up liquid.

BobblyDollocks Thu 21-May-15 15:58:01

On reflection I should have refused the delivery.

BobblyDollocks Thu 21-May-15 15:59:15

Fat stacks ive twittered the picture to them. They are looking into it.

BobblyDollocks Thu 21-May-15 16:02:07

Each' how do you get free delivery? ... When I book a delivery slot there are charges. Granted they vary from £2.49 to about £6.99 depending on time of day. I've never seen 'free' slots.
