Bloody love that stuff, for everything. That white cream stuff isn't good for anythingconfused

Silvercatowner Sun 17-May-15 19:04:10

Oh no, really? That is another tiny bit of my past that is gone forever.....

DampAndRotten Sun 17-May-15 19:04:54

Wtf! It's the only thing that sorts out my eyebrows when I have stress-scratched them to fuck.

I am not happy with this news.

pearpotter Sun 17-May-15 19:05:18

It has??? I will have to eke out the final tube as much as possible then. Wonder if stocks are available online still. I didn't know there was another kind.

londonrach Sun 17-May-15 19:06:46

What..the smell still there isnt it..ive stockpiled mntters....lets start at 100k for one tube...grin

PinkSquash Sun 17-May-15 19:08:12

How do I know if it's the white or pink one in the box?

ScorpioMermaid Sun 17-May-15 19:08:21

The smell always reminds me of my childhood.

Onetwothreeoops Sun 17-May-15 19:08:31

What? Why? Where did you hear this?

TalcAndTurnips Sun 17-May-15 19:19:28

I love the fact that you are outraged, wiggly.

My mother-in-law was fond of that shade of pink; she took a tube of Germolene to the DIY shop to match the colour for the artex in her new dining room. It really did end up looking as vile as that sounds. confused

HermioneGrangerHair Sun 17-May-15 19:23:14

Artex in different colours??? As if it wasn't ghastly enough to start with! hmm

HermioneGrangerHair Sun 17-May-15 19:24:03

YANBU , OP. Pink germolene is the best.

TalcAndTurnips Sun 17-May-15 19:29:02

Hermione - no, she wanted to paint the existing Artex on the walls.

It was that Christmas cake swirly royal icing effect. Jesus H it was awful. Enough to put you off your Findus Crispy Pancakes.

Happybodybunny12 Sun 17-May-15 19:32:05

Findus crispy pancakes and the round tin of pink germoline.

Just need the artic roll my mil loved. grin

Blast from the past.

MyCatIsABiggerBastardThanYours Sun 17-May-15 19:32:49

But it's magic cream? It won't work if it's not pink. I am absolutely 100% positively certain about that!

All paper cuts and grazed knees will fester and bits will drop off if it's not pink.

Goldmandra Sun 17-May-15 19:34:04

One of DD1's friends picked up the wrong tube in the dark tried to clean her teeth with pink Germolene on a school camping trip.

I can never look at a tube of Germolene without thinking of that poor girl trying to wash it out of her mouth.

MissRainbowBrite Sun 17-May-15 19:36:38

Nooo, it can't be true! I bought a tube of the other stuff by mistake once and it just didn't work the same without the smell. I threw it out and bought the proper stuff.

TalcAndTurnips Sun 17-May-15 19:36:44

Happybody - my husband grew up thinking that Arctic Roll was haute cuisine.

Until I opened his eyes and introduced him to butterscotch Angel Delight with sliced bananas. Every night is gourmet night chez Turnip.

EmpressOfJurisfiction Sun 17-May-15 19:38:56

Yes! Pink Germolene was magic cream throughout my childhood! Why are they discontinuing it?

ChunkyPickle Sun 17-May-15 19:39:04

Is that the stuff they used to insist they put on your knee if you scuffed it at school? My mum always just tied a hanky around our knee and sent us back out :S - Savlon on a bit of kitchen towel if it really needed cleaning!

ILovedYouYesterday Sun 17-May-15 19:41:00

Aw, my Granny swore by germolene as a cure for anything. The smell always reminds me of her house.

ChameleonCircuit Sun 17-May-15 19:41:09

If you want the smell, just stick your nose in a bottle of Pepto Bismol!

SisterNancySinatra Sun 17-May-15 19:41:46

My DM told me that pink germolene helped my spots when I was a 13yr old but they just made them worse and stank.

Redlocks28 Sun 17-May-15 19:42:08

Oh no-this stuff smelled divine! Is it going (so I can go and buy some quick) or has it gone???

CakeNinja Sun 17-May-15 19:42:18

My grandmother believed that stuff was the holy grail and would grow back limbs!
How dare they do this???

Rivercam Sun 17-May-15 19:46:28

It was even better when it came in a little tin.
