To think I shouldn't get shocked everywhere I go?

Just that really. I seem to get static shocks off of everything and I'm always a bit worried about touching metal as I know it's going to happen. Some examples...

I was in Primark and when the cashier gave me my change she gave me a static shock too. A couple of weeks later I was in a different Primark and anticipated it happening so paid with a larger note but they only had coin change. The shock was so much that I actually threw my change in the air .

My car - it shocks me about 75% of the time when I close the door. I thought I'd got round this by holding the metal door frame as I got out, but earlier I had hold of the door and touched the other door and that one gave me a static shock! How's that even possible?

Metal hand rails always shock me so I can't touch them.

Lift buttons almost always shock me. So shamefully I get my children to press the buttons, they enjoy it and for some reason it doesn't shock them!

I once stroked our cat and shocked his ear!

I know man made fibres etc are worse to generate a charge but it doesn't seem to matter what I'm wearing.

It's driving me mad!

I feel your pain, what fresh hell is this! It's happening more often to me, I had a bad one the other day when I touched part of the makeup display in boots. It's not as if it really hurts, it's just the shock of it.. Wonder why it happens! Are we super charged?

Seems to happen whatever shoes or clothes I'm wearing. I'm going to experiment though and see if I can find some shoes that stop it

I now find I have this twitchy jab when pressing lift buttons as they always shock me.

Are you on any medication OP? I think some types of antidepressants can cause electric shock sensations when you withdraw off them.

Start slapping metal items gently with an open hand. That way any built up charge dispurses out of a bigger part of your body and you don't get a shock.

So you will get a shock when your finger gets close to your car or filing cabinet. But if you slap the car or cabinet then the contact point is much bigger and you won't get a shock.

Try it. It works.

synthetic materials are a major culprit in causing these shocks, stop shopping in Primark.

I did try a fleecey dressing gown on at Christmas while wearing a polyester dress and all my hair stood on end though

I get this, it's worse when I have dry hands.

The other day dh had a headache, in the manner of an American religious healer I gently went to put my hand on his forehead saying something like "let god in your life and you will be healed" as I said it a massive, visible spark shot across and got him on the forehead :o

Shoes, clothing esp wearing tights and layers of man made fibres. many carpets are man made fibres. Worse in sunshine for some reason.
