AIBU?

Alexa Marie/Carl Wheatley surely 21 years is nowhere near enough in this instance and life should be indefinite?

this monstrous crime father killed 4 year old daughter from 'extreme blunt force trauma' had only been in his care 2 months. the article elaborates more, he knew the harm he was inflicting and made sure noone helped her either www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/dad-killed-four-year-old-daughter-after-5598046

It is a life sentence. He can be considered for parole after 21 years.

21 years is now the minimum term he will serve. After that the case will be reviewed by an independent judicial board who will discuss if he has been suitably rehabilitated enough to be released. Most cases like this, the answer is usually no.

I agree it's not nearly long enough, but then if be getting on my soap box

hmm but there are a handful of criminals who are 'life means life' no parole rose west is one of them etc was an interesting doc in crime channel a bit back. fair enough hes no serial killer but id have thought this was close to that.

That poor little girl Sad

I hope he's left to rot in hell for what he did. What is sad is that there is no way that would have been his first display of violence-he is too evil for that, which means that there will have been evidence somewhere that he is a violent man and yet that poor little girl was left with him.

In a DM article on this it claimed he was violent to a former partner. Cant remember the details but it made me wonder why SS hadn spoken to her before handing over the child.

If you want a bit of grim reading, here's wiki on whole-life tariff prisoners in E/W

A few are prisoners originally with shorter tariffs, but who have not yet been released.

"One of Wheatley's former girlfriends Laura Bridge said he once repeatedly beat her up because she had not cooked her sausages properly."

The murder conviction already indicates that premeditation has been proven.

I am assuming that the ex partner hadnt involved the police of the assault, otherwise SS would have seen it on his police record? There is only so much they can do, unless he volunteered the names of all his former partners then SS cant know they even existed.

Oh that poor little girl, what a horrid life she had. He is an utter bastard and I hope -for the safety of women and children- he never gets released.

agree 100% if you cant be trusted with your own child for 2 months i would hes too dangerous to be released, coupled with the dv incidents too.
