I work in the NHs and he's seen what they've done to it. Feel unreasonably miffed at him. Can't look at him without seeing Camerons fat hammy chops and wet lips emerging.

Yanbu. I would be gutted in your position.

I wouldn't like that at all.

I have nothing more to say that isn't completely overreactionary like a total nutter Grin

So I will just say I'm very glad he's your Dh and not mine

I can never sleep with him again. Do genuinely feel disappointed and not a little disgusted.

Most of my otherwise very lovely friends are Tories. It's very sad, however they mostly just avoid discussing politics with me and we all rub along fine.

Think of it this way, now his true colours have been shown you have 5 years to gently persuade him of your point of view.

I think I'd have to console myself with the fact he had just slipped into stupidity.

But then I'd be miffed at going out with a thicky McThick.

He can vote for who he likes. Get over yourself.

He was green when we met, I used to laugh at him in an indulgent way. How can this have happened in middle age?
I wish he was on sale or return to be honest.

I am married to a complete opposite to me in polictics. We used to have huge rows, but in the end, we agree to disagree and make sure to be scrupulously fair in viewpoints in front of the kids.

I do sometimes look at him and go "Oh. My.God. How did that nonsense spout from your mouth?" but actually, living with a complete political opposite is a salutary lesson in realising that the enemy don't get in because they are sub human lying scum, they get in because they are people who simply have a narrow view / focused view / blindspot which others agree with. To my mind, it's far more useful, in the long term to see this and try to work to remedy it in future.

It has also made me recognise how upbringing shapes the voter. DH was brought up a certain vote, educated a certain vote, lived in circumstances that made a certain vote more likely (military). To that end, we have always agreed to show contrasting views to the kids and so hopefully ensure they can make their own minds up.

I couldn't sleep with a Tory. And I couldn't remain friends with someone who admitted to voting ukip.

I'm not saying everyone has to do as I do but that view has put me in line for a right pasting tonight.

Yep, it's given me gip to be honest.
I should have slipped something in his tea to stop him voting.

Of course he can vote for whom he likes, Nikki. But OP is equally free to be unhappy about it.

YABVVVU and sound like a wally for judging how other people vote. It doesn't make you sound very intelligent tbh. We thankfully, live in a democracy, and can vote for whomever we like, without having to justify it to anyone. What is with MN and judging people for who they vote for and openly name calling and taking the moral high ground??

Thanks all. I appreciate the handholding, the sharing, the grips, even the unreasonable being a Tory is a right insinuations.

Michael Gove is on the telly and DH is sitting there nodding. They have similar double chins and glasses.

My husband is Michael Gove

My lovely SIL has come out in favour of Ukip.Hmm

She's a great person, intelligent, funny and very kind and loving to others.

However she only reads the right wing press and doesn't watch the news and genuinely believes that Eastern Europeans come here for free houses and benefits.
