AIBU?

To be thoroughly pissed off they called the new Royal Baby "Charlotte".

Because now I'll have to endure idiots asking if I named my DD1 (4 months old) after the Princess and my DD's name, which was chosen with care because it is traditional and classic, is going to suddenly become "super popular" with the masses.

It happened for the first time yesterday admittedly she was an American tourist who was admiring my PFB I was asked "Did you name her after the new Royal baby?" No, she's 4 months old you cretin

Why couldn't they have called her something original like "Pasturella Venus" or Channel (deliberately spelt wrong)-Beyonce?

FFS! Angry

Get a grip OP, nobody owns a name. "Super popular" with the masses. Charming.

And Will and Kate probably chose the name with care too.

I actually dont like the name Charlotte so stick that one in your hole.

I think Charlotte has consistently been a popular name so hopefully it will be less so than if she'd had an unusual name (I have a cousin Beatrix who is a couple of months older than that princess and she got that all the time). Charlotte is a lovely name anyway.

I know-we were out at a museum and whilst eating lunch, an American tourist sat at our table because there was no room elsewhere. We got on to the subject of the Royal baby, she was asking about names, which one did I think they would choose, blah, blah, and she asked if I'd chosen Charlotte because the Royals were considering it.

I was Confused

DH had to get up and find an excuse to walk away the coward

Seriously, get a life. You don't own the name. Did you name your PFB after my DD1 who is older than yours? Just....sad!

I have a teen Charlotte. It's a lovely name and befits a drama queen, if my DD is anything to go by. Grin

Charlotte may be a classic name but its already a popular one. I can think of at least 8 charlottes I know personally who range in age from 35ish down to babies.

You need to calm the fuck down really.

Sorry OP, I'm relieved it wasn't Alice as that's one of my prospective choices (and my staunchly republican Mum's name)! Grin
