AIBU?

To want to smash up my vacuum cleaner?

I hate it...I HATE it. It's a stupid upright Vax one which DH got a month ago. We've only got 3 months left in the UK and are moving abroad and I asked him to get the very cheapest Argos pull along one as I can't manage uprights due to my ankle issues....it is a piece of SHIT and he annoyed me by getting it.

It falls over and bangs me on the head whenever I try to use the hose attachment. It is heavy and snowploughs anything larger than a crumb along in front of itself instead of actually sucking it up.

I have just been smashed on the head by it again and basically AIBU to throw it away or give it away and buy a 20 quid one from Argos which I know works just fine for a flat of this size?? I've had one before and it was great.

I feel the same way about the stupid great dyson we have - now sat in a lonely corner gathering dust! It's an upright, it's too big and too heavy and isn't actually that good at cleaning the floor. I bought a miele a few years ago which is so much better, but DH insists on keeping the dyson as it's 'his' vacuum cleaner.
It has handles on the bits that come off!
One time I was trying to manhandle the wretched thing back down the stairs and the detachable handle at the top - detached! I had to just stand and watch as it cartwheeled down the stairs. I was amazed and very annoyed that it still worked after that.
In short - yanbu!

Just buy a new cheaper one then with that one sell it.

Easy solution. He bought a vacuum cleaner that he knew full well it would be difficult for you to use therefore it's his job to do the hoovering from now on.

Yes, buy a new one (not like you're planning on spending a fortune on it), and sell the one your DH bought (or give it away). Someone in need of it will be very grateful, and you'll have the one you want as well.

YADNBU.

When we moved two years ago we had an overlap of 7 weeks and had to do lots of decorating to the new place. We bought the £20 Argos cheapy bagged cylinder vacuum so I wouldn't have to lug the ridiculously heavy not-a-Dyson-upright back and forth.

The ridiculously-heavy-not-a-Dyson is in the "cupboard under the stairs" and has been since we moved in here properly. I really must give it a clean and flog it...

I hate my dyson vacuum cleaner and keep bashing it around in the hope that I break it and can justify replacing it. Sadly, it seems indestructible.

I may go out and vacuum the concrete stairs outside the flat...and then have a clumsy moment...

Did the piece of shite actually come from argos? Cause in my area they're fantastic at refunding or exchanging. Take it back and say it's faulty.

I once took back a hd tv because 2 hours after I'd bought it my devil son scratched the entire screen with a toy car, I took it back and said it was like that when I removed it from the box Blush
(sadly I had no such luck trying to exchange ds Wink)
