......Feeling blessed.

It seems to be a favourite status update for the majority of facebook friends. Whilst I'm happy they're happy with their lot in life surely there's another way of expressing it?

Completely irrational but I can't stand it! I can't be the only one?!

No you're not alone. I've heard a bit of carping about people 'feeling blessed'. It's twee and self congratulatory so it gets up people's noses.

Personally I just find it a bit daft...but harmless. Our culture doesn't take well to out and out expressions of pleasure in one's own life. We far prefer self deprecation and sarcasm - we know where we are with that.

I don't have FB, but have seen it on DS's. Is there a drop down menu of possible feelings?

Pass the sick-bag and make it a big one.

Ooh can we all say what we hate?

I hate:

"Enjoy" Grrr - enjoy what, ffs?

That passive aggressive "No?" at the end of an MN posting, eg "But you do shop at Waitrose, no?"

YANBU usually the ones on my feed are associated with Forever Living. 'Work for me is about coffee and biscuits with awe inspiring like minded people.....feeling blessed' pass the sick bucket!!

'Enjoy' as an instruction is just awful. I can't bear it when people say that.

Forever Living=scary cult IMO.

the people who continually post that they are feeling blessed on facebook usually have lives that resemble a long slow car crash on the M6.

Just post a photo back of Brian Blessed and ask 'really?'

Rainicorn · 04/05/2015 09:36

Yes, I hate it too. Glad it's not just me. A friend uses it all the time, for everything.

Kids finished their homework - feeling blessed
Just ate a cake - feeling blessed
Off to bed - feeling blessed

Drives me potty.

Agreed and also "enjoy". Another recently overused phrase that I hate is "I know, right?" Aaaaargh!

Me too Imperial. Sad

I was reading along, nodding in agreement and feeling quite bitter that my own life is far from blessed when I read Hellkitty's post.

Thank you Hell kitty for giving me a chuckle at the thought of the smug folk copping a feel of the big man and jolting me out of feeling sorry for myself.

YY to 'enjoy'
Well actually I was planning on crying the entire time at my favourite restaurant and punching the waiters whilst telling DH how much I hate him. But now you've told me to 'enjoy' I will most definitely have a great time Angry

For some reason it really grates on me when people put photos on facebook and caption it 'good times'. I've no idea why this irks me so much but it does!

I don't mind 'enjoy' so much as DM always says this when she's cooked a meal for us.

What I hate, for no logical reason whatsoever is "Happy days". Usually found as a caption under some smug, boastful, or just plain mundane post on twitter or instagram.

I don't know why it just angers me when I see it.

"Sitting with a coffee on Mumsnet....Happy days!" Wink

Maggie YY to 'Good times'. Almost as bad as 'Happy days' imo.

It SHOULD be an expression of recognition that you are lucky and that not everyone is so lucky.

But it never FEELS like that.

'Enjoy' should be banned it makes me want to hurl unless accompanied by 'yourself'!

Sparkling - there is a drop down menu of possible feelings! I've just discovered this myself as I have a friend who adds a 'feeling' to every status he posts and it got on my nerves so much I had a look into it!

I almost never post a status on fb so I don't know these things!
