I gave birth just over 4 weeks ago and had about 3 internal stitches and 3rd degree tear. Last week I had a lit of pain a d swelling and discomfort and small amounts of red blood. I'm still waiting for docs to get back to me on swab results possible infection. For the last couple of days my pain has lessened but I still have blood and yellow discharge. Now I've just been to the loo and there were brown stringy things on the loo roll and in the toilet. I ran downstairs panicking thinking some how I got worms in my vagina haha. But then my oh suggested it may be my stitches way over due dropping out. More sensible lol.

Anyone who has had dissolvable stitches what did they look like???

Mine looked like brown dead spiders. They were coming out for weeks afterwards, there were quite a lot of them.

Sounds like stitches to me. I pulled an inch of stitch out of a section scar over a year after the section!

Oh thank god. Nothing worse than seeing worm like stuff the loo! I took one off loo role and it split like toilet roll or wet paper

I had those disposable stitches internally when I had my pfb and they took months to be all gone Confused and came out like little black/brown flies legs (to use a nasty simile)
My pfb is 25 this year and I can still feel the bumps where those stitches were inside me too Hmm

Don't understand why they give you a 2 week time scale for them. I have blood so I may still be infected bit everyone I spoke to said they took months.

They weren't black
Very light brown x

Yes stringy black things for me
I could also feel a knot in my bum hole that I managed to pull out 6 weeks post birth. It was an actual knot! I supposedly had a 2nd degree tear so God know why she'd knotted it in my bum hole Shock.

Mine ate straw coloured. So glad all my stitches were internal bar one and that one itches like hell and I won't touch it. Kreeps me out!!

The bits which are actually holding you together dissolve much more quickly than the knots and the loose ends. I think the two weeks thing is until you're being held together by healed tissue, not the time for all trace of the stitiches to be completely gone.

"I took one off loo role and it split like toilet roll or wet paper"

So it was well on the way to being dissolved, just not completely gone.
