Its not really aibu but feel this is gaining tumble weed in wedding.

Most of the cake toppers I've seen are awful. They are cartoony, or feature the bride chaining up the groom, or zombies.

I like this one.

But also featuring two dds.
My dd said she wants to draw us instead. Shes five. I don't know what to think. I love the idea but what do you guys think of something like this?

I know, I know, link has the smoosh brangelina in it which is aibu in itself grin

Let her do it!

This is something she can properly contribute.

Jewels234 Fri 13-Feb-15 15:06:39

Love that idea. If it's a disaster who remembers the cake topper anyway?!

KingJoffreyObviouslyWatchesHol Fri 13-Feb-15 15:07:01

I'd love it.

ImperialBlether Fri 13-Feb-15 15:09:47

Sorry, I think this is taking the pfb thing a step too far! Please don't let her do it.

I don't like the toppers anyway - not very classy, are they?

TheRealMaryMillington Fri 13-Feb-15 15:13:14

If you're going to have a topper, let the kid do it
I am going to be very rude and say I think the other thing you linked to is horrid.

FightOrFlight Fri 13-Feb-15 15:13:37

I think it's rather lovely, an original and meaningful cake topper on a day that is important for all of you.

smithneejones Fri 13-Feb-15 15:16:00

real mary grin care to explain?

HairyOrk Fri 13-Feb-15 15:18:04

I don't see why not. I think it's sweet

smithneejones Fri 13-Feb-15 15:20:31

LadyLuck10 Fri 13-Feb-15 15:20:57

I would. Who cares if it doesn't come out great. She and you both will always remember her making the day a little extra special.

smithneejones Fri 13-Feb-15 15:21:11

Does the above look awful?

BumpAndGrind Fri 13-Feb-15 15:23:06

Her opinion is that it is horrid.

It is horrid in my opinion too. I don't understand what real mary has to explain.

BumpAndGrind Fri 13-Feb-15 15:26:31

I would let your DD draw the topper. it is a sweet idea.

My friend got her children to write out the place cards. That was a nice touch.

smithneejones Fri 13-Feb-15 15:28:22

Just why its horrible! I feel I'm missing something. People always say I've got bad taste

youmakemydreams Fri 13-Feb-15 15:29:27

Let her do it. I love that idea and how could it possibly look awful your dd has done it.

ImperialBlether Fri 13-Feb-15 15:32:49

Oh come on, of course it could look awful if any one of our five year old children did it!

You're going to spend all that money on a cake and ruin it with a child's picture on top? Really?

Ask her to make you a card. That'll keep her busy.

laughingmyarseoff Fri 13-Feb-15 15:32:57

I think the first one isn't pretty at all, that's my opinion. Looks tacky to me, trying too hard.

Getting your DD to do it sounds really cute and something you can keep after.

Baaaaaaaaaaaa Fri 13-Feb-15 15:33:30

They're right. It's horrid.

Looks plastic, tacky and dreadful colours.

Everyone has individual tastes and if you like it, along with your DHTB, then that!s all that matters.

As for letting your dd draw it, hmmmmm. For me, it would be a no.

What about letting her do a drawing and incorporarting that on the wedding invites or order of service instead?

smithneejones Fri 13-Feb-15 15:34:58

Do you mind me asking what people would have on their cakes?

PercyGherkin Fri 13-Feb-15 15:36:08

I don't see the point of cake toppers. However, if you want one, then the idea on that Mollie Makes page of doing a drawing for it is rather sweet and far, far better than paying nearly £40 for something (and I don't like that Etsy one either).

smithneejones Fri 13-Feb-15 15:36:47

OH likes this...

ImperialBlether Fri 13-Feb-15 15:39:26

Oh Christ.

smithneejones Fri 13-Feb-15 15:40:23

imperial! I'm worried now....
