My neighbours really piss me off with their tummble dryier. It goes on for 3 hours almost every night, I hear the slow spinning groan in my lounge when I just want quiet to read a book in the evening.

do they have economy 7 or some similar cheap rate evening elctric? If so it makes sense.

Are they home during the day?

Yabu.

If they're out at work during the day anyway. Tumble dryers catch Fire so shouldn't be used if you're out the house. I guess if they're home all day you could ask them but it is normal household noise.

Is it really three hours every night? A tumble dryer takes an hour normally to dry a load. So are they doing three loads every day?

You mean in the evening? Maybe they're not there?

Maybe they work during the day.

They probably should but I don't think you have any right to ask them. The woman beside me always uses her hair dryer when I'm trying to sleep which I hate but I wouldn't ever ask her to stop because it is none of my business.

Im out the house all day, usually 7am- 7pm. I put mine on it the evening. They can lump it. It's not like I'm playing thrash metal at a stupid volume. YABU.

We both work all day. Hmm

The only time available to wash and dry is in the evening. Also, you're not supposed to leave the house when a drier is on, they're a major cause of house fires.

YABVU. But I can imagine it is annoying.

My neighbour's gas boiler fumes waft across my living room window, totally spoiling my view. Pisses me right off.

If it pisses you off that's unfortunate but there's nothing wrong with what they're doing.

Such is life.

Are they at work? If so they don't really have a choice Confused

I use my tumble dryer in the evening as it's cheaper on the electric, I'm also at home all day :)

If this is all you have to grouse about with regards to neighbour problems you are a very fortunate person.

It's a residence, not a fucking library.

Move to a cottage in the middle of nowhere.

I'd ideqly like them to use the timer so it finishes early evening.

How is yours cheaper? Economy 7 is usually 11pm to 6am.

Yes I know ib a bit u and it's minor but its still annoying is its next to the shared wall. They could move it to an outside wall.

Why don't you bob round, suggest that to them and let us know how it goes.

Report
milkpudding · 10/02/2015 20:07

Go and politely ask if they could consider putting it next to a different wall. I would try to move it if my neighbour was being disturbed and I had another wall. This is pretty common though, we can hear a low drone from our neighbour's tv, I tune it out but poor DH is driven to distraction as he focuses on it and feels like they are doing it on purpose, when of course they probably have no idea we can hear it. You can't change their noise (within reason), but you can change how you react to it.

Buy them a Lakeland heated airer. Job done.

'I'd ideqly like them to use the timer so it finishes early evening.'

That's not for you to dictate. They may not have any other time to do it. Hmm

Get some earplugs.

Maybe they don't have room on an outside wall.

Maybe they don't want an unattended tumble dryer going while they're out of the house.

Be glad you're not next door to me. I have a washer dryer and it's sometimes either washing or drying all day.

Report
OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 10/02/2015 20:10

Yeah, you should definitely go ask them.

CuddlesfromChickens · 10/02/2015 20:12

Unattended tumble dryers are fire hazards - would you prefer your house to burn down?

If you can hear their tumble dryer up must be able to hear their TV or radio - isn't that worse?

I was just thinking earlier I wonder if my tumble dryer annoys my neighbour. Although everytime there's a Liverpool match on they throw a very noisy party so screw em.

Report
Artandco · 10/02/2015 20:12

Why? They are probably working.

We do all washing/ drying late as we aren't in during the day.

Yabu

In an ideally I'd live in a detached mansion. As it is I live in a terrace house and hearing neighbours is just something you have to deal with...or move.
