To want to wear a sexy dress

It's my hen do in a couple of months and I never go out, never get glammed up, can't remember how to do fake tan or false eyelashes since my lo came along. Anyway, I want to glam it up and do the big hair/boobs/nails etc and the dress I really want to get is full length but very tight.

I'm skinny(ish) let's say 'passable' all over except for a very obvious belly. My lo was enormous and I put on 5 stone (which ive since lost) but my belly is still saggy and shaped like this ) over 2yrs later.

But I really want to wear something glamorous & fabulous for once! Even with Spanx on you can see my phantom bump, but my stomach muscles split and have fallen out with each other and despite my happy thoughts they're having none of it and will not get back together. Bitches.

I've got another dress. Which is nice but not as exciting.
My quandary is...If I wear the dress I love will I a) regret it when I see the photos after and my enormous wobbly belly hanging down and b) do people really want to see this? Will I be assaulting their eyes? Or should I just not give a hoot and feel proud of all my other bits that haven't succumbed to gravity?

Feel proud of your bits and not give a hoot!

But... I have the same split muscles and use a waist cincher(sp?)/ garter/ corset type thing and it really works wonders! Its like the top part of spanks except uses eye/hook fastenings and its boned. Instead of looking "is she expecting or not" i look like I have a normal mumtum pooch type thing.

I realise i've probably used too many made up phrases for this to be making sense but have a search on ebay for the above and wear the sexy dress even if you dont Grin

I wouldn't worry about b). It's none if their business.

I would wear what you feel comfortable and confident in. If you're going to be worrying about what people think/what the pictures will look like all night long then don't do it. If you feel great in it, go for it.

Wear whatever you want but if you haven't yet seen a physio make sure you do. The right exercises on your tummy will make a big difference. I saw one privately it cost £35 and doing the suggested exercises has made me look a lot thinner I noticed a difference in a very short space of time too.

Surely with Spanx it will just look a little round not all hanging and wobbly which surely looks fine

Get a friend to take photos of you in the dress and then you can see how it'll look. The girdle idea is good, it's only one night.

You need a control slip, not the knicker/cycling short type of spanx - which are no good for big stomachs and just create overspill

I was also going to suggest a waist cincher - either underneath or over the top of your dress 'steampunk / wench' style.

I haven't heard on the waist thing before or even considered physio. So thank you for those suggestions. I'm hoping to get pregnant again soon so don't know if there's much point though at this time.

I think I'm going to wear the dress too. Soz if anyone's eyes bleed :-s

I would get the physio just to get it checked. I know two women whose GPs told them they were fat with mummy tummies when in fact they had undiagnosed hernias. If nothing else look up tupler technique. Honestly it can make you thinner within days of starting the exercises.

I did MUTU as well, it is brilliant!

Also Pilates is highly recommended for toning up stomach muscles.
You should think about doing Pilates for your long term core strength anyway, if your stomach muscles have suffered through childbearing.
