AIBU?

DH and his stupid logic.

I get up at 6am for work. DH (SAHP) gets up at 8am ish with DS. He reckons that on my days off if I get up with DS at 8 and he stays in bed until 10 it would be fair because we'd both be getting 2 hours lie in.

I think his logic is mean, surely he gets 2 hours extra in bed every day I'm in work early so 6 - 8 hours a week? So on at least one of my days off I should probably stay in bed until lunchtime to catch up? Grin

AIBU to think DH's logic is flawed and that he needs to share out lie in time more fairly?

WIBU to just stay in bed in protest until he agrees that we both get one morning each until 9 / 9.30 instead?

Should I LTB Wink

Your way is much fairer

Do you go to bed, undies turned, two hours before him? Yeah, didn't think so. LTB.

Undies turned? Undisturbed Grin.

But I recommend you turn your undies. It would serve him right.

Which way would I turn them? This sounds uncomfortable...

Err what? that's the best spurious logic I've ever heard.

You should be staying in bed till lunchtime OP.

YANBU but his logic is very strange.

Yes LTB or just tell him if he considers 8am a 2 hour lie in, then he's effectively getting a lie in 5 days a week as you're saving him from having to get up at 6. So YOU should get all the lie ins on your days off Grin

FoulsomeAndMaggotwise · 05/02/2015 22:52

You've got to admire his nerve, at least.

In the Foulsome household I (SAHM, up at 8) get a lie in on Saturdays and DH (worker, up at 7) gets a lie in on Sundays. No time limit!

Tell DH to "nap when DS naps", smile sweetly, and book yourself into a spa for the weekend Wink Grin
Once your DS is a teenager, you will both be banging drums, setting off flares, and blasting Motorhead on full volume just to get him to grunt, never mind get out of bed Grin so just repeat after PomBear "This too shall pass"
I set my pfb on fire once to make him get up Grin

What's worse is he probably isn't taking the piss either, probably thinks that really IS logical and fair...

YANBU

And yes, turn your undies ;)

I think he really did believe it was sort of logical - I was weirdly impressed by the thinking but have told him I will be staging a bed in until he considers my alternative point of view with undies firmly turned

I do go to bed earlier than him but only because I have to be up at stupid 6am Angry

Neither DH nor I are morning people. But he's more of a night person than me. I do weekend mornings with 2.5 year old DD because it is harder for him to get up early than it is for me. I wish I could have him do at least one weekend morning per week, but he is what he is.

He doesn't get up until 8, that's a lie in isn't it??

10 o'clock sounds ridiculous tbh.

i had no idea it was possible to stay in bed that late!

just turn it around to him and say - "well you have 2 extra hours in bed a day than me, so that 10 hours extra sleep you get over the week, i'll be using that on Sat and Sun thanks luv"

YABU

It's the logic I use with my DH

And on Mother's Day he has to mind the kids so I can have a treat and on Father's Day he gets to mind them as a treat

Weekends DH gets up with the DC and leaves me to lie in. He works all week and I'm a SAHM. He wants to spend the time with them, and I need a break from toddlers so it works for us all.

His logic is crap. For us it's about getting enough rest, not titfortat. We are in a reverse situation. DH works m-sat and is up at 6.30. I get up by 7.15 at the latest. On Sunday DH always has the lie in till 9am when I disappear for 4 hours to do a hobby. I get a lie in on the odd Saturday when he doesn't work (usually 1 a month ish). I do 99% of night wakings, but I also usually get to bed half an hour before him, and sometimes have a nap while our toddler does. I'm pregnant, and will give up the hobby for a while in a couple of months, then the lie ins will be re-distributed.

My 11 yr old DS is a metalhead like me Grin so this would backfire.......

However, I considered buying an electric cattle prod or an airhorn to get 14 yr old DD up at one point. She's very good at getting herself up now.

But turning to the OP's issue, her DH isn't using logic at all, or he would be realising that his daily lie-ins account for more than just 2 hours.

Not actually on fire, just a bit on fire Grin
He was 17 and being a twat, and because he was in the top bunk he thought he could ignore me telling him he needed to get up for college.
I may be short, but I could reach high enough, and told him if he didn't get up Now I would set him on fire. Then I did the little clicky sparky noise with the wheel of my lighter, right beside his ear.
He cleared me completely and landed on the landing outside the room Grin and after that he did as he was asked.

I have been known to turn my pants inside out at night so it's like having a clean pair on. Could I claim that's turning my undies?

Also, YANBU. Grin
