Tribunal in France has refused permission for the names for 2 babies Nutella & Fraise (strawberry) & have renamed Fraisine (19C name) & Ella...
What goes on in the minds of some parents?

Theboodythatrocked Mon 26-Jan-15 14:15:19

God knows op.

Documentary on last week with a girl on called Paris Chardonnay! Seriously why would you.

olbas Mon 26-Jan-15 14:21:03

I met a Demi the other day, surname John! Tbf it was her married name.grin

maleenteringfemalefacilities Mon 26-Jan-15 14:25:45

I knew (of a) Marina Flood. Not her married name - so her parents named her that...

HighwayDragon Mon 26-Jan-15 14:29:07

Arkkorox Mon 26-Jan-15 14:31:09

canweseethebunnies Mon 26-Jan-15 14:41:44

Strawberry is not that bad! Nutella is a bit weird, but maybe it sounds nice in French?

Theboodythatrocked Mon 26-Jan-15 14:44:17

Come on strawberry is ridiculous!

Annette curtain?

mix56 Mon 26-Jan-15 14:44:57

Ben Di Cock, a Corker !

RainbowFlutterby Mon 26-Jan-15 14:45:28

I knew a rabbit called Strawberry. Vicious little fucker.

Chalalala Mon 26-Jan-15 14:49:10

in fairness Clementine is an accepted name, and so is Apple apparently... Strawberry is not any different, in itself.

as I understand the court argued that Fraise could be prejudicial specifically because of the French expression "ramène ta fraise", kind of a colloquial/vulgar way to say "come over here".

Nutella is beyond any explanation. Doesn't sound any nicer in French than it does in English!

sliceofsoup Mon 26-Jan-15 14:52:00

My DH went to school with a Luke Ware.

Newlywed2013 Mon 26-Jan-15 14:52:10

My hv told me they have issues with some names and have to explain the British meaning to some foreign parents. One couple had called their daughter after an STI after seeing it on a poster and thinking it sounded nice. They did not speak English!

steppeinginto2015 Mon 26-Jan-15 15:00:06

Ok, I don't get what is wrong with Luke Ware

(sitting here saying it in every way I can think of!)

CatThiefKeith Mon 26-Jan-15 15:01:34

Dh has several strawberry birthmarks on his face, arms, chest and back.

Pils called him Mark, apparently it never crossed their minds that it might be an odd choice. hmm

Clawdy Mon 26-Jan-15 15:06:12

Don't get Luke Ware either?

TwinkieTwinkle Mon 26-Jan-15 15:06:19

Luke Ware? I don't get it...

Hatespiders Mon 26-Jan-15 15:06:47

I've posted this before, but I had a Dwayne Pipe in my class.

sliceofsoup Mon 26-Jan-15 15:07:52

coffeeandcalpol Mon 26-Jan-15 15:10:07

Clawdy Mon 26-Jan-15 15:10:37

But...Look where isn't really funny....tbconfused

sliceofsoup Mon 26-Jan-15 15:15:39

Well he was bullied mercilessly in school over it, so no its not funny. I don't think having any of these bonkers names would be remotely funny. confused

hellsbellsmelons Mon 26-Jan-15 15:16:49

I used to work with a supplier and his name was Wayne Kerr
Seriously! What do these parents think they are doing?
Isn't Gwyneth's little one called Apple? So why not Strawberry?
