If you have a sweet tooth, did you make real changes? I am eating plenty of good stuffs-3 decent meals plus healthy snacks but on top if this I could put away 2 bars of chocolate, easy.. I don't have any weight issues myself but wonder is this bu and should I make a better effort? I am 13 weeks now and coming out of the nausea but am still exhausted and that definitely sets off the craving, it's not hunger I know. .

I had such a sweet tooth when I was pregnant with DD, I could easily have eaten 4-5 bars of chocolate a day. I don't normally have a sweet tooth at all. I compromised by baking myself scones/biscuits etc. Still not great but thought it would be better if I know what was going into them rather than eating shop bought things. The sweet tooth continued the whole time I was breastfeeding too. Now pregnant with DC2 and the sweet cravings have disappeared!

Before I was pregnant I could go days without anything sweet. Whilst pregnant I craved the stuff: cakes, chocolate, sweets...I quite literally couldn't stop eating them. Unfortunately this sweet tooth hasn't really gone away (DD is 2 in a month Blush). I lost my baby weigh within about 4 months except for a stone which I still have

Not too much sweet food when pregnant with my ds but I had such sweet cravings with my dd! I only wanted to eat cake and chocolate Grin I was so worried I mentioned it to my midwife and she said it was because I was expecting a girl! I didn't want savoury food so would often eat a plate of fruit and bread for dinner.

I had a really really sweet tooth but limited myself to one bar of chocolate a day shame it was a family sized bar of Aero. I also drank loads of Lucozade and cherry coke to wash me pickled onion monster munch down to help with the morning sickness.

Put on loads of weight and still carrying about half of it. Oh well.

Pre-pregnancy I are virtually no sugar. When I was pregnant I ate about a bag of licorice a day plus a LOT of chocolate. I now regret stuffing quite so much junk in, the baby weight is proving challenging to shift Sad
(Although possibly I should blame the second breakfast from pret almost every day in my first trimester)

I ate my own weight in sugar on a weekly basis both times. In my second pregnancy the only flavours I could tolerate were sweet and salty. So that resulted in a super healthy diet Blush

I went the other way! I am such a sugar addict normally, but in the first couple of months, I wasn't interested in the stuff at all! (wish that had continued!)

I am pregnant now and normally have a crazy sweet tooth. Until 20 weeks sweet stuff disgusted me, but since xmas my sweet tooth has come back with a vengeance! I have had a little carton of mini eggs and about 6 choc biscuits today :( so worried about gestational diabetes but I can't help it!!

I ate loads of chocolate and loads of ice cream. Dd was 6lb 9oz so not a very big baby, and most of the weight I gained was gone within 6 weeks. Think most of the weight was actually fluid retention! I did try to eat healthily other than this though.

I'm 33w now. Been suffering from nausea and sickness all way through. For the first 16w or so I was off most food inc chocolate etc but since then I've eaten what I want, when I fancy as I would have done before. I haven't gone mad or eaten for two but I certainly haven't stopped eating sweet things because of the baby

Hope this helps

I lived on 'Millions' sweets, grape flavoured pop and chocolate for the first few months. I ate six chocolate bars in one sitting. It was wonderful.

I'm glad to say my sweet tooth disappeared after the baby was born and I'm a super healthy eater these days.

Couldn't eat any sugar throughout pregnancy. It immediately returned. My downfall was that for about 80% of the pregnancy I could only tolerate McDonald's quarter pounders and diet cokes. Still trying to shift it seven months later!

I had sickness the entire way through with dc3. I lived on cola and apples. I had 2 dental fillings as a result.

DD1 I ate loads if fruit and very little in the way of chocolate, sweets and cakes. DD2 I initially went off sweet stuff but then went a little crazy after the first 12 weeks. I had a shit diet second time round (i went through a faze of eating rock salt off a plate) in comparison to my first pregnancy and i felt guilty but just couldn't bring myself to eat much fruit. Wasn't sick either time though and DD2 was almost 1lb less then DD1 when born.

Very little. Had to inject insulin (thankfully only in pregnancy).

I ate pretty well during most of the pregnancy, tried hard to eat lots of fruit and veg etc, limited caffeine etc. However I trout he'd through a snickers most mornings at work as I was really hungry , ravenously hungry and I thought sod it, I'm need energy. A few times i followed up with another one! I don't know if I put much excess weight on, but I don't think it was much. BFing dropped that pretty quickly anyway.

It's fine when you're going through the sicky phase as you should eat what you fancy. However, you only actually need 100 extra calories a day whilst pregnant.

Sometimes excess sugar can show in your urine aswell, so don't have a massive chocolate cake the night before your midwife appt.

I have a sweet tooth at the best of times but always crave sugary / fatty foods in pregnancy and cheerfully give in. Pregnancy is bloody grim enough without subsisting on raw carrots and lettuce leaves Grin. I went from 8st to over 11st in both my pregnancies, but was back at 8st within a year without making any effort (I'm just naturally stick thin though). Both my babies were biggish but perfectly healthy.

Being pregnant is a great time to eat what you want but you don't want gestational diabetes. It happened to me, out of the blue and I had no risk factors.

It is a fricking nightmare and the scary part is that excess sugars can pass to the baby through the placenta if your body isn't creating enough insulin to break the sugars down.

Not trying to be a spoil sport here but if you do eat a lot of sugar and it is causing an issue ie gestational diabetes you may have it for weeks or months before it is detected. Usually a GTT, the test to diagnose it is only carried out after a few pee dip tests that show positive for glucose.

Definitely have your cake and eat it, just in moderation. Oh and if you want a mega size piece of cake have it after a protein rich dinner so you digestive system is breaking down the huge sugar load at the same time as the protein. Much better for insulin levels.

I had a complete aversion to sweet stuff when i was pg. I was all about grapefruit juice, cheesey anything and marmite. To be fair to my sweet tooth, I had hyperemisis for 18 weeks and had an aversion to everything.

6 packets of Fruit Pastilles a day with DC1. I went from 7.5 stone to 10.5.

I had a huge sweet tooth with DD. I ate a chocolate orange a day without realising how many calories were in them.

I didn't have a weight problem or anything then so I didn't own bathroom scales so I didn't notice how much weight I was putting on. I thought it was just baby weight. With dc1 I gained virtually nothing and thought dc2 would be the same.

After the birth I was at my parents and weighed myself and found I was over 3 stones heavier than pre pregnancy. I've never been able to shift that weight (or the belly that makes me look permanently pregnant). It's a huge regret. A life of obesity isn't fun.
