..no more people being blessed, no more married couples talking lovey dovey bollocks to each other online when they are probably at home on the same couch ignoring each other, no more kids in front of their 3 million birthday presents showing off, no more selfies, no more shite and boasts and and and....bloody facebook!!!

Grin and breathe....

its great, forget dry January, no FB January is much better for my health!!

I'd miss mine, but then I don't see the examples in your OP very often at all so mine's quite a nice place to be.

I still have Facebook but I don't log in very often. Whenever I do my self esteem goes down and my irritability goes up. I really need to stop it altogether. Well done! #ssdisblessed

Deleted Facebook from my phone and it's the best thing I've done in ages! I'm so much more productive (although mumsnet is just as addictive - it doesn't piss me off!)

why? well it was doing my head in and making me feel crap cos I've not got a perfect life, wonderful social circle and dh never called me babes on my timeline so he obviously doesn't love me as much as all the couples out there who are so in love they can't help telling the whole effin world......

see, its not good for me even thinking about it Grin

Most people on my FB I hold in great affection or they're funny or they live in interesting places and are having interesting lives, then of course there is the odd FB scrap, which livens things up no end Grin. I can honestly say that my FB account and the people on it enhance my life one way or another.

I really like Facebook and feel blessed that it exists Grin.

But if you are happier without it then yanbu.

I've never even opened a FB account - there is real life out here you know Wink.

I might be missing out on loads of stuff I just don't know about, but reading about all the angst that FB seems to cause I don't care about what I don't know Grin.

I have sensible friends which don't do any of the above. I also don't add random people

Report
redexpat · 18/01/2015 19:24

I think you just need more interesting friends. Grin

Mintyy · 18/01/2015 19:25

I only have 70 friends and I hide anyone who only posts "I'm so fabulous" updates, and it works out well.

Actually, scrap that, I keep a select few of the "I'm so fabulous" people because it amuses me. I don't feel envious or inadequate beside them, why would I?

YANBU

I deleted mine back in the summer & whilst I miss the odd thing I don't miss the friend & family politics that were always strife on it.

Ignorance is bliss!

I really don't get threads such as this. Of course you aren't unreasonable. Why on earth would you be???

Annbag · 18/01/2015 19:27

I've just given mine up too, it was getting too annoying. Although I'll miss the people that live together posting on each others walls on valentines day now, whilst sat on the same sofa on their phones not actually talking!

I love Facebook, but only have people on there that I like, I moved around the quite a bit when I was younger and it is a good way off keeping up with peoples lives that i dont see often , but I only have about 70 friends on there, all friends/acquaintances and family that I like, I would delete people that annoyed me, not Facebook.

Report
ghostyslovesheep · 18/01/2015 19:28

yes why would you be unreasonable for being glad about doing something? it's not like it impacts on anyone but you.

I like FB - but then I don't have too many arseholes on there - just actual friends

I deactivated 2 weeks ago and feel sooo much happier without it. Loads better for my emotional and mental well being and i doubt i will go back.

My DD has a month old baby, she was told that without IVF she wouldn't conceive, but did.

She titles her Newborns pictures with "feeling blessed".

I like seeing baby pictures, even if I don't know the family, personally.

I don't see how that makes my DD, or anyone else an arsehole.

I'd rather see "loved up" posts than some of the Jeremy Kyle fodder I've read.

I don't think some people get the point of Social Media, tbh.

If it's not for you, though, I agree, keep off it, or you just bring everyone else down.

I've seen a few of these threads.

And I just can't understand how it comes to the point where facebook enrages you!?

Surely the people who annoy you on FB also annoy you in rl? So why are you even friends with them?

Report
LoisDrankMyTableDecoration · 18/01/2015 19:35

Lots of people on mine are fine in real life but twats on fb. I can't ignore or delete them, especially when they are all "feeling" shit all day! Grrr.
