To want to do nothing today

I will start by saying I am having a small midlife crisis. I am a bit fed up of our family situation, lack of money, unreliable car and being expected to remember everything for our household of 6. So after going to bed early last night after stressing over up coming birthdays (presents and ideas for the days) with no support, I decided this morning that I wasn't going to do my usual Sunday. I made a list of what gets done, made several copies and left them about the house. It also states that I don't care who does them or in what order but I am not doing them.

Well the grumpy moods and chaos this has caused is ridiculous. I think I'm going to do this once a month and next time, when there's no snow I'm going to drive off and leave them to it!

Rant over.

Why do you need to leave your house, or go around printing lists? Does sitting down and discussing these things not work. How old are your dc?

They are 3, 7, 12 and 18. The older two do have jobs they are meant to do but it is a fight to get them to do them properly most of the time. No matter how many times I we discuss it they agree then walk away, only to do the same thing again.

The 7 and 12 year olds are terrible at keeping their rooms tidy - it can be perfect one day and the trashed the next. I know I haven't been firm enough and am quite shocked at the amount other kids do.
