AIBU?

to feel pregnant already?

If we conceived then it was one week ago. My nipples are sore and they are never normally sore. In my yoga gear my tummy looks less toned. I am weeing more than usual I reckon. Am I crazy? Can you feel pregnant only one week after dtd? It is my third pregnancy.

I did (and was). Different symptoms though - very tired, went off tea and coffee.

Could you be further along than you think? It can take days for conception to occur - I don't think it happens straight after shagging.

With my third I think my body did know pretty much immediately. Absolutely knackered for no apparent reason.
Someone asked if I was pregnant and I found myself wanting to say 'yes', but didn't because I 'couldn't be' - don't think I'd even missed a period at that point.
But I was.

I think every month that every little symptom means I've been caught. Like this month for example, I'm sat at work and could easily have a nap. I'm so frikkin tired but can't face coffee (usually I'm drinking so much coffee, I swear I'm personally keeping Nescafe in business!). Are you trying to get pregnant? Our bodies can really throw us about a bit and make us think all sorts, especially if it's wishful thinking.

I definitely just 'knew'. My boobs were so sore and tender and that was before I have even missed a period.

Yes glorious, I have gone off milk which i did in both other pregnancies! I feel like I "know" I am pregnant Champagne. I can't talk to anyone IRL about it in case they think I'm crazy. I'll wait to test, wanted to hear if anyone else had this feeling!

I definitely did and was at that point with dd2. Did the stick pee thing on the day, period didn't start. When I told dh we had a three hour very circular conversation that involved him saying 'yes, but how did you know to do the test' repeatedly. Smile he later told me he didn't believe until the 13 wk scan.Hmm
Good luck op!

Yep, I felt pregnant from the moment the sperm met the egg, both times. And both times DH guessed immediately because I smelt different, apparently.

itsnotme yes it could be only in my head as it was our first shag without contraception. Genuinely wasn't trying to think about it too much though, but my body is just feeling different you know. With looking bloated in yoga gear, I also felt different, more stretchy, less firm in my stomach.

Galvanized, I hope my reply did come over as rude! I personally 'knew' last time I was pregnant, even though I thought I had no symptoms, some women do with or without them. Sadly mine ended in miscarriage so now I think anything after ovulation is a symptom I missed last time. I hope you get the result you're hoping for either way Smile.

I knew a week after ovulation, had sore boobs, and nausea, but though I was crazy until bfp this week.

Congratulations hestia! I'd be surprised if I wasn't. No it didn't come across as rude *itsnotme don't worry! When we were first ttc years ago before kids there was wishful thinking and all sorts but this time having been pregnant before I feel like I'm recognising changes in my body iyswim.

I will go against the grain and say it is incredibly unlikely you would have any kind of legitimate pregnancy symptoms a week after DTD.

It takes on average 11-14 days from conception (which isn't necessarily the day you had sex. Depending on ovulation this can be upto 3 days afterwards) for implantation to occur. Until then no HCG is produced which is responsible for not only turning a pregnancy test positive but the rapid increase of HCG also causes pregnancy symptoms too. such as tender breasts.

I've known many women who are utterly convinced they knew they was pregnant just days after conception and did in fact turn out to be pregnant. I say its just a coincidence that they felt those symptoms.

Of course I accept I could be totally wrong. But from a scientific/biological point of view its too early for you to feel symptoms. Regardless of wether you turn out to be pregnant or not.

I do hope that you get the result you want though :D

Thanks for your insight sarkymare that's interesting to know. I will see if it comes to anything but won't be gutted if I'm not.

OP...another one who 'knew' at 5 days post DTD...my boobs were just so sore and huge....wasn't sick though till 6 weeks exactly...thought I'd got away with it in 3rd pregnancy....

Report
ilikebaking · 16/01/2015 14:52

I "knew" every month, barring the one I actually CONCEIVED!
For 6 months I was convinced, beats, bloat, tiredness... you name it but every month AF arrived.
Then, we barely dtd for a month, so symptoms, nout, so the night before my period was due I got drunk to commiserate, and the morning brought nothing buy I didn't think, the day went by and the night, woke up to go on holiday, no period, regular 31 day clockwork cycle. Did a test while I finished packing and thankfully remembered to look before we left and BFP.

Galvanized · 16/01/2015 14:57

Grin ilikebaking maybe I'm about to enter into that monthly cycle of "knowing" every time! We want to ttc without thinking too much about it but it's so strange for me to sudddenly be aware of my body feeling different, nothing else has changed apart from ttc.

I didn't have a bloody clue. Didn't find out until I was 15 weeks gone (I had an op until general anaesthetic at 12 weeks too, nobody realised then either). I was extremely embarrassed not to have realised!

I also want to say that DD took 18mths TTC and I never had any symptoms, despite symptom watching like mad for a year and a half, 18 times I waited for symptoms, as has been pregnant before and knew what to expect.I still didn't have any symptoms...even after a positive test...I still say I knew with DS2 after 5 days...

Your belly cannot possibly look different at this stage! That really is reaching. But I hope you are!

Report
sparechange · 16/01/2015 15:20

I'd be really surprised if your tummy was any different, but my nighttime weeing and crippling tiredness kicked in a week 8 days after my implantation (ivf pregnancy so I knew the exact date!)

Report
toffeecrispandacupoftea · 16/01/2015 15:26

Yep, I knew.

Really kicked myself though because I went to the dentist for a check up and she wanted to do x-rays. Asked the PG question and I wanted to say "yes" but thought I must be imagining it (was about 1 week!).

Then got other symptoms over the next few weeks (sore breasts, aversion to certain smells) and got a BFP!
