So this year they won't come in a pack of 6 but instead 5! Wtf! And they say this is due to consumer demand...

And are smaller...

highlighta · 13/01/2015 08:52

That makes no sense at all! It has to be 6 eggs. Half a dozen. Where else do you go and buy 5 egg ffs!

It is more like you now get 5 eggs for the same price as last year 6 pack.....

Report
highlighta · 13/01/2015 08:54

And if they get any smaller you could shove it in whole, no need for biting the top off which is the best part Wink

Don't mess with my crème eggs........... Angry

They have replaced the dairy milk she'll with a generic chocolate too. I have expressed my displeasure on their Facebook page. Twats.

This.

Shocking behaviour. Bloody americans. (is that racist?)

I think YABU because Cadburys chocolate has never tasted nice in the first place. Doesn't even come close to decent Swiss or Belgian chocolate. I honestly don't get the fuss about Cadburys. Their 'dark' chocolate (50% cocoa solids or so) is especially awful. Though the dairy variety is below average too. I'm a chocolate lover and won't be buying any of Cadburys products, hence don't care whether there are five or six in one pack.

I am a little bit gutted. I have been slowly eating my way through the remaining Christmas chocolates, while resisting the temptation to buy a creme egg, until its all gone, only to find out now they have changed the chocolate. I don't think I'll bother now!

Kraft, not Cadburys, are to blame. Knobcheeses.

I used to love Creme eggs. I bought a box of Heroes recently and was really disappointed in the quality, especially the creme twists. I suspect they had already changed the recipe, lowering the quality.

I will not bother buying any this year. I don't want to be disppointed.

www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/shortcuts/2015/jan/12/-sp-the-cadburys-creme-egg-scandal-how-to-stage-a-chocolate-revolution this is a rather good article. I don't get their comment:

"The Creme Egg has never been called the Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Creme Egg. We have never played on the fact Dairy Milk chocolate was used."

Do they really think the type of chocolate they use is not important?

So, creme eggs are changing??

look what I found!!

BertieBotts · 13/01/2015 09:36

It's probably because they want to promote the egg and spoon thing, which is nice, but not a patch on a creme egg. They own Milka in continental Europe too and they sell the egg and spoons here but not creme eggs, I reckon they're trying to reduce demand.

Eggs are sold in 10s rather than 12s here too, but still six rather than five. Five doesn't even make much sense as a packaging design? How are they fitting them in?

Report
kelda · 13/01/2015 09:39

I think the fact that they are selling five instead of six in a box is because they already know people won't want to eat so many of them.

Anyway I don't really care how many there are in a box, I won't be buying them.

Good! This nation is fat and unhealthy enough

Buy a bag of carrot batons instead!

Report
catsmother · 13/01/2015 10:01

I'm not 'fat and unhealthy' thanks ! Hmm Grin

What I really really object to though, regardless of whether or not an individual product is considered 'healthy' or not is this perpetual fucking about with sizes/weights/recipe which is then 'excused' along the lines of customer 'demand' and/or as if somehow they (the manufacturer) are doing us a favour with the new variation of whatever it is - when we all KNOW it's about giving us less for the same money - be it literally less as in weight, or something of lesser quality (as with the crap new Cadbury recipe).

It actually feels quite contemptuous - as if 'we' (their customer base) are all thick and stupid and won't notice or care.

Sure, we can boycott said item but that's not really the point is it ?

kelda · 13/01/2015 10:34

Yes this nation is fat and unhealthy enough, which is why when I eat a creme egg, it has to be worth it!

Am I the only person who thinks when I want to eat junk n chocolate that'd what I want not some healthy smaller version disguised as junk! If I want a bar of chocolate or a creme egg let me have it. Everything in moderation. People have to take responsibility for their own diets

Grrrrrr. They are healthier. I didn't ask for healthier. I asked for an creme egg!!!

TrendStopper · 13/01/2015 10:49

I agree. Who wants healthy chocolateConfused
When I eat chocolate it is as a treat and to me a treat should be unhealthy & that is why it is a treat. I eat healthily and sometimes I want a treat.

Report
AwakeCantSleep · 13/01/2015 10:54

I don't think they've made the changes to make creme eggs healthier? Looks like cost cutting to me. The cost of cocoa has shot up massively.

YANBU to want to see chocolate as a treat and not want it to be healthy. I would suggest you swap Cadburys for a delicious treat with higher quality ingredients which will give you more enjoyment and better value for the calories consumed.

LarrytheCucumber · 13/01/2015 10:55

I heard a man on Radio 4 saying that they had replaced the chocolate with 20% cocoa solids (ordinary Cadbury's) with one that is only 14% cocoa solids. I am surprised they can even call it chocolate.

I tried one of the new ones thinking "it can't be that bad". It is :( It just doesn't taste like anything. Is it just me or does Green and Blacks taste different as well?

Haven't tried G&B lately, but G&B milk chocolate has a higher cocoa solid content than Cadbury's "dark" chocolate. Do they do egg thingies for Easter?
