AIBU?

To truly hate being pregnant?!

Arrrgh. Needed a rant.

38 weeks pregnant. I have hated every moment of it! but had very little reason to lol.

Never had morning sickness (Well I was queasy but nothing worth whinging about)

But the aching, pulling every muscle, general 9 months of feeling like shit. discharge (tmi!), stretch marks from my chin to my toes, waiting around for midwifes, hearing the same shit from people asking about my baby and bump..etc (I'm not a people person, can you tell)

Now I'm 38 weeks, and 4ft 11, I'm pretty much a walking bump. Getting out of bed is like a turtle stuck on its back. All arms and legs. My knees hurt, my legs hurt, my back hurts.

Strangers ask me how long I have. And people keep telling me how much I will miss my bump (no!) and the sleep (what sleep?! the 3 hours of pain I get on my side?) and how much they all loved being pregnant, I don't even like the movements, I feel invaded, haha.

They are lying to me yes? I didn't even glow. In fact I'm covered in blue veins, I look like death.

(Comments about how I should be lucky I'm pregnant at all need not be posted, I'm not looking for sympathy...etc)

I just can't wait for this little beggar to be out and then the "fun" can get started! ;)

It's sh*t!!! You have my complete sympathy, I used to think that labour was the worst part, but that's only one day (in most cases), pregnancy is nearly 10 months of crappiness. People presume that I'm having an easy pregnancy because I didn't get morning sickness but I have PGP, get heartburn about 12 times a day, skin is acting up, horrible cellulite, I feel massive, tired and cranky but at the same time can't sleep and I'm constantly hungry. I have to stay active, but not too active or I'm basically crippled the next day. Swimming is supposed to help, but I'm not supposed to do breaststroke (PGP) and I can't see my hoohah to tidy up down there so there's no way I'm putting on a swimming costume. Oh yeah, and to make it even better, my boobs aren't even as big as last time round!

Haha at 10 weeks I was like "hmmmm this is easy!" (besides panicking about my scans!) oooh how wrong I was haha :)

Everyone I seem to speak to loves/loved being pregnant, so I wouldn't worry about my rant! :)

upthewolves yes, it does get better if your idea of things getting better is completely losing sight of your toes and your body doing increasingly bizarre things, good luck! (cue evil cackling)

YANBU! I gave birth 3 days ago at 40+2 and even with the stitches, sleeplessness etc I feel AMAZING because I am no longer pregnant whoop whoop whoop!!!! Sorry I hate to rub it in... Anyway, ignore all those idiots saying having a baby is harder than being pregnant, everyone experiences it differently. I hope you don't suffer for too much longer hugs

Yanbu! I'm 39.4 weeks and desperate for this pregnancy to be over! I never thought I'd be saying this after 3 losses but I'm truly sick of being pregnant. It's just too much now.

I've tried all the old wives tales and none of them have worked!

I'm starting to forget why I decided to have another baby, I obviously forgot how hard pregnancy is.

Discopanda

My first baby so have no idea about the labour part, but I'm actually excited about it. Because as you say... it's the quickest part when you compare it to the pregnancy as a whole.

Oh the heartburn! I'm going through a bottle of gaviscon a day, even water makes it worse. I'm propped up on a pillow right now while OH snoozes away. If I sleep on my left I get the burps and my bump/ribs hurt, If I sleep on my right I'm literally puking stomach acid!

Haha @ the hoohah tidying!! I can't swim but If I could I reckon I wouldn't be trying. I got stuck in the bath the other day!! PML :D

YANBU, I felt the same. I also had bad SPD and everything hurt so much. I know it's different for every woman but I do think it's generally harder physically for very small women. I remember a woman asking me, when I'd just had my first dd 'oh didn't you just love being pregnant?' I was dumbstuck for a few moments thinking 'wtf did she just say? How would anyone love that? Wait, was I supposed to love it?' So I just said '...errrrr, yeah!' Haha.

bottle of gaviscon a week not day, one of them massive ones, a day would be very excessive haha. I'm sure I'm consuming it more than any other food or liquid though!!

PomeralLights congratulations!! Oh I can imagine the relief at no longer being pregnant, and finally getting to see the little one! Can't wait to have control over my body again! :)

AlwaysLurking38 Any day for you now then! Sorry about your losses but massive congrats on almost being at the end of your pregnancy! xxx

Procrast Oh god the amount of people who told me they loves pregnancy, all mainly tall and skinny people. I was 4ft 11 size 14/16 before pregnancy, so now I am just a huge sack of spuds with stumpy arms and legs sticking out haha! size 14 will feel skinny after this :D

YANBU, I hated every moment of being pregnant. Had awful hyperemesis right up until I pushed the placenta out, then I magically felt better immediately due to not being pregnant anymore. Baby is now 16 days old and I feel healthier, more energetic and better rested than I did for the previous 40 weeks!

OP try ranitidine for the acid, it works wonders.

YANBU! I've had 5DC meaning I've spent around 3 and half years of my life being pregnant. I hated every minute of it, even when I was enjoying myself i hated being pregnant.

Also felt totally invaded and bored to tears with talking about when I was due etc.

I too once got stuck in the bath and people talk about the indignity of birth, but have they ever had to have their BIL grease them up and haul them from the tub, huffing and puffing. Nightmare.

Its much better once you've had the baby, then you can be anyone, for now your sum total is pregnancy.

I hated being pregnant, but suffering from morning sickness until I gave birth and the heartburn was hell ( I already have GERD)

Once baby was out I could finally eat.

basgetti - Congrats on the birth! xx oh poor you with the hyperemesis, I've been so lucky to not be physically sick through the whole pregnancy, been the aches and pains and struggling to be mobile that bothered me. Gone from walking 5 miles a day to struggling to get to the corner shop :/

I might try ranitidine if I'm still getting acid after the birth, I don't get paid for another 10 days and only got a fiver in the bank! ooops :/ ! Bloody "festive season"

And yes it IS harder for smaller people. Surely thats just physics, weight distribution and everything?!

I always carried quite neatly, all at the front but then people start treating you like a fucking genie and rubbing the tum saying its a girl, its a girl! 4 boys I had so clearly bollocks 80% of the time.

While we're ranting, what is it with people trying to rub bumps? Why?! The only person I havnt gone mad at for touching bump was my friends toddler, he was just too cute Grin

mamapain Glad I'm not the only one who got stuck in the bath, an amazingly fun moment, especially when you OH is the equivalent of a womans size 8. He was like WTF do you want me to do about this. :D haha

I used to think I had bad heartburn before pregnancy. I lived off rennies, now I'd need a hand full of rennies to keep my going for 5 mins!

All i taste when I burp is aniseed gaviscon, all day, everyday :)

My OH keeps his hands off the bump, it creeps him out, which is fair doos, he doesn't mind how it looks, but the movements he's not a fan of. I'm honestly not a fan of the movements myself, I jump out of my skin! (sorry if that sounds weird, I guess not everyone can love it). I'm glad she's so active all the time, but it's still strange to me, I never got used to it!

His mum is the worst. Sitting there rubbing me, I'm sure she thinks I'm carrying her surrogate child the way she talks!

Only person who I haven't minded touching me was my friend, single and never really been in a relationship nevermind considered children, she was really curious about how a bump actually felt. She was very polite and said "please can I just have a feel" haha.

YANBU

I hated it. Dread doing it again.

But it's a necessity if we want to have children.

I do daydream that I would have enough money to afford a surrogate who would of course live in non toxic cotton wool, avoid all the necessary foods and drink, never feel a moments stress, and have an entirely drug free birth and then piss off as though she never existed so I didn't need to owe any gratitude.

That, or that there was some way they could tell you in advance something that would take all your fears away - eg, yes faffyduck this child will be healthy and intelligent throughout life and your labour will be quick easy and magical

It's the unknown I hate.

TheHermitCrab · 06/01/2015 01:25

Oh faffy that made me laugh :D

I've lived off sugar free/caffiene free diet coke (only thing that doesn't make my heartburn worse) chocolate, crisps, vegetables, and meat when I can handle it (meat has not been my friend in pregnancy) So i could have done with that magical perfect surrogate!
