The television ones!

What adverts get you riled and why?

My top 3 are:

1. toilet roll!
Who is NOT buying this stuff, really? I know the bog roll defenders will say the companies are just promoting their own brands, but don't we just buy the best brand on offer?

2. Watch this fab new show...
...on a different channel, that you don't get. I have been caught out on this one sooo many times of an evening Angry

3. The 'I use this and it is sooo great'
I never believe any of the actors/actresses because they always look so wooden, bored, falsely gleeful or just plain crazy. Does anyone believe them?

Now go mn, give me your own hates!!!

  1. DFS sales..... really? Another one?
  2. Perfume ads... any of them. They are just silly
  3. Anything wildly out of season - like creme egg ads on Boxing Day/ Christmas ads just after the summer etc.. just seems grabby.

  1. That bloody Secret Escapes one where the woman whispers, whispering gives me the heebie jeebies

  1. Any and all perfume/aftershave ads, they all live impossibly glamourous/immoral lives

  1. Cillit Bang, just because I want to punch him every time I see him

YES to secret escapes weirdo whispery woman!!

Any repetitive jingle orientated ad like 'we-buy-any-car -.com' that will not be pried from my brain for umpteen years!

Good one Petra I hate the DFS sales too!!! A couple of years ago, it was calculated that there were only 4 days in the whole year that they weren't having a sale!

I hate the infomercial type ads that show someone fucking up something really simple, like peeling potatoes, chopping tomatoes with a spoon or brushing their hair. But with this wonder product it's oh so very simple!

When you get to the end of an advert and have no idea what they are actually selling/promoting.
This includes artsy fartsy perfume ads and ones for wierd things like pr or advertising.

There is one for one of those ambulance chasing solicitors that bugs the crap out of me.

The woman in it starts every sentence with 'and'.

'and when will this pain end'

'and the car came out of nowhere'

'and they offered a settlement'

'and my solicitor thinks we can get more'

'and I think I'll cook chicken on Saturday'

I have to turn it off now, it makes me irrationally angry.

GaryBaldy My deepest and sincerest apologies. At least it's not the check-a-trade jingle, eh?

That patronising advert aimed at stereotypes of thick teenagers. I think it's Barclaycard or something. I'm pretty sure the majority of teens watching the ad are more articulate and intelligent than the twerps who wrote it!

I hate any advert involving whispering too. It's such bollocks. They're telling you to use their product, and advertising it on the TV, why would they pretend that whatever it is is a secret that only you can know about? Really fucking irritating.

Ooh and those toothpaste adverts - where someone is talking about using the toothpaste and they use a really annoying editing style like they've chopped out loads of what they've said and stuck it all together but it jumps where each cut has been made. No idea why it irks me so much.

Actresses advertising home hair dye. Cause I so believe Eva longoria dyes her own hair.

Car adverts are the other ones that I often can't really tell what they are selling Alpaca

Always Discreet, too awful for words. Lots of dancing and can can leg kicking to a crappy disco tune "Get your groove thing"

Whoever came up with that ad should be lined up against a wall. It's horrible!!!

Ok, thanks for that! Rant over.

Ha ha! I'm chuckling at the 'bog roll defenders' in the OP!
They're right cunts, those big roll defenders and their organised gangs of arse wipe apologists!
