AIBU?

to keep and re-read love letters from boyfriends past?

I am a woman in my 40s and have lovely letters from past boyfriends who really meant alot to me and whose letters I loved. This is not so much an AIBU and more of an Am I Being Inappropriate (AIBI) to keep and read these from time to time; I love going back to those times and thinking how happy and innocent and young we were, and imagine in a parallel universe we are all still spinning along as we once were. My sister has said that she thinks it is not right to keep/read them as the people involved have moved on and no longer feel that way (the same applies to me) but I feel it is ok as part of my history and my memories etc. Anyone any opinions on this? I really hate to do this, but feel I must finish with a quote from Titanic ... ' a women's heart is a deep ocean of secrets' or something ...
PS I am not married so am not having an EA in my head or hurting anyone.

it's nice to reminisce, but I don't think i'd keep old letters or photos of myself with exes. the memories and experiences I have are private but then again my situation is different as I am married

I am friends now with a couple of my exes and I still have a vague fondness (nothing emotional or sexual at all) but just a mild 'ah yes I remember that day, it was fun' type feeling.

I don't see it as a problem at all. I have plenty of things which I have collected over my life, which bring back old memories. It doesn't mean my dh has anything to worry about. I think if anyone felt threatened by things like that then it's probably not a good relationship to be in.

It's very similar to looking at childhood photos.

Thing is, you know that this is your past from a time that made you happy. You're not looking to go back to that time, just remembering the good times you had.

I keep all mine. I don't see anything wrong with. I like to remember how intense everything felt and how much I loved and was loved. After a disastrous marriage throughout which he claimed to love me while treating me like complete crap it helped me to read them and remember how it felt to genuinely be loved.

I've letters from old boyfriends in a box in the attic. I wouldn't dream
Of throwing them away, they are part of my past and take me back to a different time in my life. They make me smileSmile
I'm married too but I don't think that makes a major difference.

I guess there's nothing wrong in it. To me personally it seems a bit odd and not being able to move on. But then again Im not one to look back on things romantically.
