AIBU?

To ask you if your poo ever goes up the wrong way?

Seriously. This happens occasionally since I was small. Say, once every 2/3 years. I think it's one of those things that happens to everyone at least a few times in their life.

It hurts like hell. Like giving birth but I never knew that when I was a kid. I had it happen to me today and it was excruciating pain for about 3 mins I had to breathe like I was having contractions. It's the first time it's happened in about 4 years.

What's the scientific reason for it?

(I'm not a poo troll or anything, just want to know if it's one of those human bodily functions that are strange and happen to everyone).

The wrong way how?

My poo seems to behave itself and just does what it's supposed to do.

It kind of feels like it goes backwards. Like giving birth pain. But then the pain goes away and it's all fine again. I once had a conversation with a friend when I was 8 or 9 and she said she experienced it too. Maybe she was lying Confused.

Please go docs. No one should be in excruciating pain when visiting the loo

Report
VivaLeBeaver · 01/01/2015 23:24

So it feels like it's going back up rather than coming out?

Its not something that is hugely unusual its also often caused by a very weak pelvic floor.

Working on your pelvic floor can obviously help in the mean time to prevent the pain whilst your fixing the cause if it starts to happen just blow your nose

VivaLeBeaver · 01/01/2015 23:25

Dh reckons it's constipation.

Report
ScaryHairyFairy · 01/01/2015 23:25

I do suffer from constipation and moreso since I had children. But this has been happening since childhood. It rarely happens. That's why I've never worried. But maybe there's something wrong with me

Do you mean if you need a poo and you hold it in too long, it kind of goes back up like a tortoise head? If so, yes I've had that! The answer is don't hold your poo in.

Or do you mean something else entirely?

Report
CaptainAnkles · 01/01/2015 23:27

If you mean the sharp 'javelin up the bum' pain, that's constipation.
