To ask you if your poo ever goes up the wrong way?

Seriously. This happens occasionally since I was small. Say, once every 2/3 years. I think it's one of those things that happens to everyone at least a few times in their life.

It hurts like hell. Like giving birth but I never knew that when I was a kid. I had it happen to me today and it was excruciating pain for about 3 mins I had to breathe like I was having contractions. It's the first time it's happened in about 4 years.

What's the scientific reason for it?

(I'm not a poo troll or anything, just want to know if it's one of those human bodily functions that are strange and happen to everyone).

The wrong way?

RJnomore Thu 01-Jan-15 23:20:19

What happens exactly?

sooperdooper Thu 01-Jan-15 23:20:44

I have no idea what you mean

VivaLeBeaver Thu 01-Jan-15 23:20:48

The wrong way how?

My poo seems to behave itself and just does what it's supposed to do.

Due2015 Thu 01-Jan-15 23:21:11

What?? I've never heard of this

usualsuspect333 Thu 01-Jan-15 23:21:23

I'm not sure I want to know tbh.

WineCowboy Thu 01-Jan-15 23:21:53

Where does it go? Sounds painful?

WineWineWine Thu 01-Jan-15 23:21:58

What ARE you talking about?

OnlyWantsOne Thu 01-Jan-15 23:22:37

Marks place

ScaryHairyFairy Thu 01-Jan-15 23:22:53

It kind of feels like it goes backwards. Like giving birth pain. But then the pain goes away and it's all fine again. I once had a conversation with a friend when I was 8 or 9 and she said she experienced it too. Maybe she was lying confused.

CaptainAnkles Thu 01-Jan-15 23:23:19

Er, where can it go apart from where it's supposed to? confused

FrogIsATwatInASantaHat Thu 01-Jan-15 23:23:21

molyholy Thu 01-Jan-15 23:23:41

Nope. Never happened to me but it sounds rather painful confused

OwlBeGoing Thu 01-Jan-15 23:23:56

Are you not just constipated?

GlitzAndGigglesx Thu 01-Jan-15 23:24:16

Please go docs. No one should be in excruciating pain when visiting the loo

VivaLeBeaver Thu 01-Jan-15 23:24:31

So it feels like it's going back up rather than coming out?

Isabeller Thu 01-Jan-15 23:24:38

poo has a right way up? surely no need to be so harsh about weetabix

Sorry you have a painful condition OP flowers

hiddenhome Thu 01-Jan-15 23:24:49

What, like up into your vag or something? confused

NeedsAsockamnesty Thu 01-Jan-15 23:25:00

Its not something that is hugely unusual its also often caused by a very weak pelvic floor.

Working on your pelvic floor can obviously help in the mean time to prevent the pain whilst your fixing the cause if it starts to happen just blow your nose

GlitzAndGigglesx Thu 01-Jan-15 23:25:00

I thought at first you had wind but now I'm none the wiser

VivaLeBeaver Thu 01-Jan-15 23:25:43

Dh reckons it's constipation.

ScaryHairyFairy Thu 01-Jan-15 23:25:45

I do suffer from constipation and moreso since I had children. But this has been happening since childhood. It rarely happens. That's why I've never worried. But maybe there's something wrong with me

RudeBarbandCustard Thu 01-Jan-15 23:26:02

Do you mean if you need a poo and you hold it in too long, it kind of goes back up like a tortoise head? If so, yes I've had that! The answer is don't hold your poo in.

Or do you mean something else entirely?

CaptainAnkles Thu 01-Jan-15 23:27:08

If you mean the sharp 'javelin up the bum' pain, that's constipation.
