and just ask you guys which the best Smart TV is? We need a TV for our new house and don't want to spend too much but think a smart TV would work for us. Some of them (well known brands) are really very reasonable but its hard to make the final decision! Anyone want to make a recommendation?

What size are you looking for? And do you care about brand name?

Max 40", I think 32" would be enough. I don't care about brands as long as its decent, reliable and good for watching movies. I guess there is very little real difference in any of them....or am I wrong?

Just do the months free trial and cancel it. I do every few years.

I also remember back in the olden days walking to the library and asking for the paper back copies of the magazine to research my first laptop. The world has changed in 10 years!

Go to richer sounds they have the best prices and are very helpful. Whatever you do don't buy a supermarket snider.

There's a whole Which article on Smart TVs and how they track you using cookies but if you can live with that I'll take a look for you.

YABU. Access online to a Which report is £1. You'd rather rely on strangers opinions and save a quid than spend it and get the benefit of hours of testing and research from a non profit organisation that doesn't use advertising so is properly independent?

Libraries do often have their own subscription. Our local one does.

Hope that's helped you make a start. Perhaps others will be along with more Smart TV knowledge.

we've just bought a samssung 32", DH who is very geeky about these things only buys samsung tellies at the moment

We bought this one originally, as it is a better telly, but discovered it had a white edge which we didn't like

telly no1

So we returned it and got the 6400 instead, which seems very good, just doesn't have internal freesat, only free view

We have a Samsung and are very pleased with it. I buy most electricals at John Lewis especially for the inclusive 5 year guarantee on TVs.

I would days Samsung. They're great, the Internet TV is easy to use and they have usb ports too. My DH has hooked ours up to the laptop & we can stream movies from our hard drive. I'm not techie, but it's bloody brilliant!
